Lubrication is one of the most important factors in whether or not a refrigeration installation works correctly. The choice of lubricant is specific to the installation and applications in question. It is important to follow the recommendations of the compressor manufacturer. The oil ensures that the different moving parts of the compressor are lubricated by forming a lubricating, homogenous “film”. Mixtures of mineral and synthetic oils designed for refrigeration installations which work at low temperatu-res and use limited miscibility secondary refrigerant fluids with mineral oils such as R-22 fluid.

Bitzer B 5.2 AB / MIN 5 L

Polymers made up of specific chemical monomers such as esters. The first synthetic oils were developed for HCFCs (AB and PAO). With the arrival of HFCs came a new kind of oil (POE), since mineral oils are not miscible with HFCs.

• AB: alkyl benzene oilsThese are recommended for R-22 type fluids and HCFC mixtures. They are compatible with traditional mineral oils. Where the original oil is proved to be incompatible with mineral oils, alkylbenzene oils offer an excellent replacement.
