Andrew attended Jerusalem Community School in Brazoria, Texas, as he was always remembered for making the winning shot in their big basketball game and George Washington Carver High School in Sweeny, Texas. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Brazoria. He attended Sunday School on a regular basis, as his grandfather, Samuel Prince was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. As an adult, he moved to Galveston and joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. After his retirement, he returned to Brazoria and renewed his membership with Jerusalem Baptist Church and served as a Church Trustee. He was a faithful member and attended services regularly until his health failed. Andrew desired to join the military and enlisted in the United States Army in 1944. He was determined to be a soldier as his country embroiled in World War II. He served as a Private First Class and received three honorary medals, serving his country faithfully 1944-1946 (2 years, 3 months, and 7 days). Following his return from the military, he moved to Galveston. He retired from UTMB, Galveston, after 23 years of service as Supervisor of Environmental Services and 20 years of service as the Director of Environmental Services at Shriners Hospital, Galveston. His strong work ethic, dependability, and loyalty, gained him the respect of supervisors and employees. As far as his interests, he loved watching sports, rodeos, bull riding, religious television shows, and spending quality time with his family. His favorite color was blue. Those who knew and loved him will remember his wonderful and cheerful smile, joking, and kind gentle spirit. On October 15, 2019, 7:02pm, at CHI St. Luke-Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson, he made his transition from earth at the age of 93 years and 6 months.
