Even the most nervous of riders are now confidently taking part. The stamina and fitness that this program develops is wonderful. The Year 5/6 students are building up to their Maldon camp on 18 - 20th March. The bike ride is an important art of this camp. They will also enjoy the outdoor acvies such as the rock climbing wall, rope course, mini-golf and some free me to play basket- ball, table tennis or just chat. Camp builds up so many skills we are proud to have an element of our camping program at all levels. PREPS FULL TIME This week sees the Preps aending full me. During February they are involved in tesng for the Department of Educaon. They take part in an English Onlinetest looking at their reading, wring and speaking skills. This of course varies greatly across the cohort and gives us an insight to the development of their individual program. We also conduct the Mathemacs Onlinetest. At prep level this is predominantly around counng and one – one correspondence. Both incredible and important skills. BREAKFAST CLUB – HELP NEEDED The Lions Club do a splendid job providing breakfast for our students on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. They are in need of some help with seng up and packing away tables and chairs and with breakfast preparaon. If you can get to school early (8.15am) to help with tables would be great. If you can help aſter (8.50am) with the pack up that is also appreciated. Preparing toast etc is also welcome. See the wonderful volunteers on either Tuesday or Thursday. MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

BIKE ED I have been so proud of the progress of everyone participating in Bike Ed. Even the most nervous of riders are now confidently taking part. Camp builds up so many skills we are proud to have an element of our camping program at all levels. PREPS FULL TIME This week sees the Preps attending full time. During February they are involved in testing for the Department of Education. They take part in an ‘English Online’ test looking at their reading, writing and speaking skills. This of course varies greatly across the cohort and gives us an insight to the development of their individual program. We also conduct the ‘Mathematics Online’ test. MARINE TANK Our Marine tank as slowly been establishing itself. We needed the water and the early hardier corals to establish before adding new inhabitants! I was so pleased to get a special birthday present last week with four Blue Damsel fish, an orange starfish, and two new large coral. The conversations, curiosity and wonder it is creating fills me with joy. Please drop passed and spend some time

looking.

COOKING IN THE STAFFROOM When I designed our new building I wanted to utilise the staffroom as it sits idle for most of the day. The addition of an island bench and commercial oven was designed to have the students cooking in class. The Year 1/2 students “christened” the space with their chocolate cakes. They were delicious.

SONJA TERPSTRA VISIT It was my pleasure to welcome Sonja Terpstra MP our new State Labor Member for Eastern Metropolitan Region, to our school last week. Sonja was most interested in our programs and the school facilities. We were able to discuss the next steps for the school and will seek her support around further improvements.

INTERESTING FACTS Alligators cannot move backwards. Bulls are colour blind and will charge at a cape regardless of its colour. There are a thousand times more living things in the sea than there are on land.

Kind regards,

Julie Gilbert
