♦It was by faith that Moses' parents hid him for three months. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid of what the king might do. It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be treated as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God's people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin.

He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of the Messiah than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to the great reward that God would give him. It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt. He was not afraid of the king. Moses kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.

Page 10: REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY

10

Moses was born a Hebrew slave but he was raised as Pharaoh's grandson

Moses had an identity crisis – He had to decide:

♦Am I Jewish or am I Egyptian?

♦Am I a slave or am I royalty?

MOSES MOTIVATION

19

♦ (Hebrew 11: 26b)(Hebrew 11: 26b) (Moses) was looking ahead to the great reward that God would give him.

Moses had perspective – he had the willingness to look at life through the perspective of eternity – he was not just living for the moment.

4 The Pursuit of His Presence

KEY TO REDEEMING OUR KEY TO REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITYCOMMUNITY

♦Moses was a great intercessor.

♦The Bible documented 25 times of Moses in prayer

♦Ministry will drive you to prayer.

♦Prayer is not an option.

♦A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian

Page 22: REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY

♦If you don’t pray to God, you will be a prey to the devil.

♦The giants of the 7 mountains which we face on daily basis will roast a prayerless Christian for dinner.

♦Quality time in His presence will unlock the key to your mountain.

Fact of the Bible

♦The Bible mentioned approximately 1000 leaders, only 100 of them have enough data to get the full picture of them.

♦Of the 100 leaders that we have sufficient data, 2/3 did not finish well

♦Moses was one of them24

Page 25: REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY

25

♦ (Acts 7: 23 - 25)(Acts 7: 23 - 25) When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defence and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not.

We can not take our mountain by flesh

(Zac4: 6, 7)---(Zac4: 6, 7)--- Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.

What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’

Page 27: REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY

27

(Exodus 32: 19, 20) (Exodus 32: 19, 20)  When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.  And he took the calf the people had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.

Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water ---, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.

(Number 20: 12)(Number 20: 12) But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honour me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”

(Genesis 49 5 -7)(Genesis 49 5 -7) Simeon and Levi are brothers—their swords are weapons of violence.Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased. Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel
