INTRODUCTION RED TACTON meaning: tacton: touch-act-on (action triggered by touching) red: symbol of warmth and love conveying the cordiality of

interpersonal communications

Red Tacton works on HAN. (Human area networking), as a safe, high speed network transmission path.

RedTacton uses weak electric fields on the surface of the body as a transmission medium.

Technically its completely distinct to wireless and infrared.

Communication possible through any part of the body.

Red Tacton can achieve duplex communication over the human body at a maximum speed of 10 mbps.

Page 5: Red tacton

HOW REDTACTON WORKS?

Major components of device are a red Tacton transmitter and a

receiver.

Transmitter induces a weak electric field on the surface of the body.

Receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on the surface of

the body caused by the transmitter.

Red Tacton works upon the principle that the optical properties of

an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak

electric field.

using a laser and converts the result to an electrical signal in a

optical receiver circuit.

INTRA BODY COMMUNICATION METHODS

There are 2 basic methods:

1. Electric current method2. Electric field method( Red Tacton)

Page 9: Red tacton

WORKING PROCEDURE A communications path can be

created with a simple touch.

Two-way communication is

supported with speed 10 Mbps &

Frequency less than resonant

frequency of human(70-100 Mhz)

RedTacton can utilize a wide range of

materials as a transmission medium.

Need of Supersensitive Sensors

The naturally occurring electric field induced on the surface of the

human body dissipates into the earth.

Photonic electric field sensors are developed which bounces a

laser beam off of a crystal (electro-optic crystal) and measures the

reflected beam.

Opto-electro sensors has two features :

1. Should measure electric field from a device without contacting it.

2. Ultrawide band measurement possible & Should support one

point measurement independent of ground.

HAN

In addition to the WANs (Internet) and LANs, there are applications best served by Human Area Networks (HANs) as well.

Three Functional Features

Page 14: Red tacton

Touch

Many human movements like touching, gripping, walking, stepping

etc. can lock or unlock equipments or start or stop an equipment or can

result in data transfer

Communication starts when any body part or embedded system gets in

contact through various physical contacts according to human natural

movements .

Page 15: Red tacton

Broadband and interactive

Bandwidth is not at all affected with the variations in the number of

users and also not affected with the use of duplex operation.

Because the transmission path is surface of the body, the speed is not

compensated in congested areas.

Page 16: Red tacton

Any media

In addition to the human body, various conductors and dielectrics can

be used as transmission media. Conductors and dielectrics may also be

used in combination.

Page 17: Red tacton

Human Safety

Safety is obviously the primary concern before the implementation of

this technique.

The transmitting and receiving electrodes of the Red Tacton transceiver

are completely covered with insulating film.

So the body of the person acting as the transmission medium is

completely insulated.

When communication occurs, displacement current is generated by the

electrons in the body because the body is subjected to minute electrical

fields.

Applications

An Alarm sounds automatically to avoid

accidental medicine ingestion

Touch advertising and receive information

Applications in Personalization

Just touching a phonemakes it your own

Just sitting in the seat triggersthe car to load all its presets, just the way you like

ADVANTAGES

Data transfer is faster and easier through this technology.

Data loss during transfer is less.

Use of minimum amount of power (of some milli volt range).

Security is more.

DISADVANTAGES

It can be useful within few centimeters.

Effects on human body is still under research.

Cost of development.

Page 23: Red tacton

FUTURE DEVELOPEMENT

Page 24: Red tacton

as walkthrough ticket gate

a cabinet that opens only to authorized people

a television control that automatically chooses favorite programs.

The system also improves security.

It can dominate Bluetooth technology in future

It ensures that only drivers can open their cars by touching the doors if

the keys are in their pockets, not people around them.

Page 25: Red tacton

CONCLUSION Red Tacton is an exciting new technology for Human Area

Networking.

It is best to connect network within short distances with speed of

10Mbps.

There is no any type of problem of hackers as our body itself is the

transmission media.

It can dominate Bluetooth technology in the future and can end the use

of cables.

It supports personal devices like PDA’s and notebooks.

Since it provides high speed communication, it can provide seamless

service wherever, whenever and whoever uses it.
