Very often the first stage of your learning adventures will take place in the classrooms of TheVillages Lifelong Learning College. There, you can match your interests with the experience andexpertise of knowledgeable instructors who are passionate about the same subjects that you are! From visual art to writing, from computer science to yoga, there’s something for just about everyonein our constantly evolving course offerings. A small fee is charged to support these informative andenjoyable learning opportunities.
After having received a foundation of knowledge in The Villages Lifelong Learning College, youmay wish to follow up your classroom experiences with some practical (and fun) use of what you’velearned! For example, if you’ve taken a class in line dancing or scrapbooking, The Villages RecreationDepartment can be your gateway to connecting with other line dancers or scrapbookers who want topractice or work together to improve their skills. Activities such as these that are organized andsupervised through The Villages Recreation Department are supported totally by your monthlyamenity fees.
When enjoying Recreation Department sponsored activities we ask you to remember thefollowing guidelines:
• Please, always carry your original Villages ID and follow all posted rules and regulations inyour activity location – including all posted age requirements at all centers.
• Prior to getting involved in your recreational program, be sure to consult a physician toensure you are ready to participate if your interests include strenuous activities.
• Please be sure to fill out the required waiver at your recreation center before joining inthe fun and always wear appropriate attire while at the recreation center.

LLoosstt aanndd FFoouunndd — Depending on where items are found, inexpensive items will be held for 15 days at La Hacienda or Laurel ManorRegional Recreation Centers. Valuables will be immediately turned over to the Lady Lake Police Department, Sumter County Sheriff ’sDepartment, or Marion County Sheriff ’s Department. After 2 weeks unclaimed items will be donated to local charities. The RecreationDepartment is not responsible for lost items.

FFiisshhiinngg GGuuiiddeelliinneess — It is the policy of The Villages (VCCDD and SLCDD) that fishing will be allowed in bodies of water within theboundaries of the subdivision in accordance with the following conditions:
1. All residents will be required to comply with federal, state and local laws, statutes and ordinances while fishing within the boundaries of The Villages.
2. Residents may fish in any lake, canal or stream, whether natural or man-made, which can be reached without crossing over ortrespassing upon any privately owned property.
3. Residents may not fish in Lake Sumter or other areas with “No Fishing” signs posted.4. Nature preserves and jurisdictional wetlands may be fished in accordance with item two shown above, provided that only artificial
baits, hooks, lines, sinkers and bobbers/corks are allowed inside the boundaries of any wetlands. Any person crossing intojurisdictional wetlands is in violation of state and federal law and may be prosecuted. Anyone having any questions regarding thispolicy may call the Village Center Community Development District at 753-4508 or the Sumter Landing Community DevelopmentDistrict at 751-6700.

Recreation Pool GuidelinesGGeenneerraall:: Pools and outdoor facilities close at dusk (30 minutes after sunset).
• In the event of an emergency, dial 911.• Please follow all posted pool hours, rules and regulations.• No pets are allowed in the pool area.• If a staff member is on site, please check in with them. Please have your Villages ID or Guest ID and photo ID with you at all times. • Please shower before entering the pools.• No food or drink is allowed in the pool or surrounding edge.• Smoking is permitted in designated areas outside the pools.• All pools have a courtesy phone.• Appropriate swimming attire required.
LLiigghhttnniinngg//IInncclleemmeenntt WWeeaatthheerr PPoolliiccyy:: — In the event of lightning or inclement weather, the Recreation Departmentrecommends patrons at pool facilities and other outdoor recreation areas to find shelter and wait at least 30 minutes before resuming activities.The Recreation Department reserves the right, as issued by the National Weather Service or Public Safety Department in the event of tornadoes,hurricanes or other severe storm warnings, to close facilities for public safety.

Infant and toddler floatation devices are allowed with adult supervision.

SSppoorrtt PPoooollss::Be sure to check the sport pool activity schedule before you go. Schedules are available in The Daily Sun Recreation News insert, on poolbulletin boards or by calling the center where the pool is located. Sport pools are designated for exercise programing.
• All Villages Sport Pools are for Residents only (age 30 and older) .• All sport pool participants must have a current year’s signed waiver before taking part in any organized water activities.• All sport pool activities start at the top of the hour and finish 10 minutes off the posted end time.• LAP SWIMMING – all lanes in with no program leader. • OPEN EXERCISE & WALK – exercise, walking with no lanes or program leader.• COMBINATION SWIM TIME – lap swimming, walking and exercise with some lanes and no program leader.• WATER EXERCISE PROGRAMS – aquatic exercise with a program leader, listed by leader on the schedule.• You do not need to sign up for sport pool programs. Special events and activities which require sign-up will be announced.• Private Sport Pool Parties – you may rent any available sport pool for a Sunday afternoon private party by calling 751-6714.• Pool equipment is available in the pool room at each pool. Please treat the equipment as if it were your own and return it to its proper place
when finished.

CCaatteeggoorriieess ooff TThhee VViillllaaggeess RReeccrreeaattiioonnaall AAccttiivviittiieess:: Lessons – This is the starting point to learn any of our activities. We love teaching and encourage you to take lessons before joiningany league or organized play.Open Play – This is for those of you who prefer to play an activity on your own. No courts are reserved, but are available on afirst-come-first-served basis. If there is a posted courtesy rule, please observe it to allow fellow residents play opportunity.Check facility schedules posted on bulletin boards or in The Daily Sun Recreation News insert.Organized Play – This is for those of you who prefer to play with a group but cannot commit to participating every week. A director orvolunteer will organize this play and no statistics will be recorded. Sign-up is not required.Social Leagues – We will be glad to form a league for your friends and neighbors. A staffer will assign court times and set up a round robinplay schedule if requested.Recreation Leagues – This is for team competition for those who can commit to participating for up to 7 weeks.Sign-up is required. The league schedule will let you know which league and where you will be playing every week. Statistics willbe recorded on a regular basis.
Recreation equipment is available at all recreation centers for your use and enjoyment.
Guests of Villages’ residents whose home address is outside Lake, Sumter and Marion counties areeligible to use selected Villages’ resident amenity-supported recreational facilities.
