Every year the calendar is full of
holidays and celebrations. From the
Memorial Day to the Christmas Tree
Lighting, the Department of Parks and
Recreation hosts special community
events. Each event is unique in its own
way, but all are perfect for families! We
hope to see you at all of our events this
year.
Memorial Day Parade and Garden of Honor Ceremony On the Saturday before Memorial Day,
New Amwell Road is lined with
residents watching the parade. The
parade consists of veterans; local fire
and police units; youth baseball and
softball teams; Cub, Boy, and girl Scout
Troops, and various community and
youth organizations.
At the end, residents follow the parade
to the Garden of Honor at the Municipal
Building, where a ceremony is held and
wreaths are laid.
Local non-profit community
organizations can apply to march in the
parade on the Parks and Recreation
website.

up with a spectacular firework display
around Independence Day.
In late June or early July, the fields at
Auten Road School turn in to a family

independence.
Last year’s celebration included
inflatable amusements, volleyball, a DJ
and performances, and the famous food
tent before the fireworks were set off.

Family Campout & Fishing Derby Ann Van Middlesworth Park is a busy

Tents turn the outfield of the softball
field in to a campground for the night.
Dinner, kickball, and night hikes
highlight the evening.
The David L. Thomas Memorial Fishing
Derby is also held during the campout
for children under age 14.

Halloween Party Children dress up in their costumes, get
a tour through our haunted house, and
go on a hayride to a pumpkin “patch” at
our Halloween Party.
Last year, we also introduced a
pumpkin carving contest.
Location: Municipal Building *Pre-registration required – begins in September*
Christmas Tree Lighting Each December we join Santa Claus in lighting our township Christmas Tree! Children get a chance to visit Santa and get their picture taken with him.

Highlighting the Holidays

other departments and groups, hosts many social and community events.

this year.
We look forward to seeing everyone the township’s special events this year!
The Tiny Sports programs are offered in all seasons. In the spring, Tiny Soccer, Soccer 101, Tiny Wiffleball, Tiny Football, and Spring Sports Fun are offered. These classes give boys and girls ages three to six the opportunity to learn a variety of new sports in a fun atmosphere.
Increasing popularity this spring is the Youth Golf Program for children ages seven to 15, which expanded from two classes in past seasons to three sections this year.
We are always adding new classes and modifying classes to fit the changing interests and dynamics of youth sports, so check out our seasonal Activities Guides for all of our great programs for children of all ages and for adults and senior citizens.
