EFA 2.343 - list

EFA Z 10 D brisket shear Operating instructions and spare parts list

Caution! For trained repair personnel

only! No other personnel may carry out repairs, as there is a

risk of serious injury!

1 Connection and start-up

1.1 Prior to starting the brisket shear, compare the technical data of the compressed air

system with that of the tool. Operating pressure: 6 - 8 bar. 1.2 The tool must be connected through a maintenance unit of min. R3/8". 1.3 The maintenance unit must consist of a water trap, pressure gauge and aerosol

lubricator (in that sequence) and release 1 drop of oil per 5 cuts (see 5.). 1.4 The compressed air hose must have an inside diameter of minimum 10 mm.

Before connecting the compressed air hose, blow it out. The tool is equipped with a R 1/4" connecting thread for connection to the valve housing (19).

1.5 For safety reasons, the tool must be attached with the eye screw (42) to a spring-loaded pulley.

1.6 The sound pressure level measured at the operator workplace is max. 82 dB(A). Recommendation: Wear hearing protection. 1.6.1 The acceleration effect on the upper limbs does not exceed 2.5 m/s

2 Intended use

2.1 Purpose of tool

Cutting of breastbone in calves, sheep and pigs 2.2 Process 2.2.1 Ensure that the tool is positioned correctly for cutting. Remove the innards. Hold the brisket

shear with both hands and push the free blade (44) along the sternum through the diaphragm. 2.2.2 Actuate both switches (29) simultaneously (max. time difference: 0.3s ± 0.1s).

After the cut is completed, release both handle switches. The moving blade (46) returns to its initial position.

2.3 Operational safety

- The brisket shear must be suspended from a spring-loaded pulley. - Thanks to the two-hand safety switching mechanism of the EFA Z 10 D brisket shear,

the tool meets the applicable national and international safety regulations. - Hold the shear by the two switch handles (27). - For repairs, disconnect the shear from the compressed air hose.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Daily maintenance tasks

3.1.1 For disruption-free operation, ensure that the brisket shear is always kept clean. For proper hygiene, clean the shear insert and lubricate the blades (44 + 46) (see 5.).

3.1.2 Lubricate the blades with EFA special grease (see 5.) through the grease nipple at the threaded bolt (48), using a grease gun.

3.2 Monthly maintenance tasks

3.2.1 Lubricate all contact surfaces (items D - G) with EFA special grease (see 5.). 3.2.2 Adjust the blade play. To do this, remove the spring dowel sleeve (56) and the bolt (55) and

loosen the screws (53). Adjust the moving blade (46) by means of the released nut (52) and a face pin spanner so that it moves freely without excessive play. Tighten the nut (52) and secure it with the hexagon screws (53).

3.3 Maintenance unit

Regularly check the oil level in the storage container and drain off the condensate from the water trap.
