Recap of Council Meeting May 9, 2017 Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Herb Pederson. Seven council members were present. Pastor Sabol gave the opening prayer. Council Secretary, DeAnn Sletten, presented the minutes of the April 18 meeting and the special voters meeting of May 7, 2017. Minutes were approved. Treasurer, Kim Wendt, presented the report of expenses from April 19 thru May 9, 2017. She noted that expenses were for a three week period since the council meeting was held a week earlier this month. At this time the General Fund check book balance is positive. Financial Secretary, Don Selvig, presented his report. Don stated that the Memorial Committee gave permission to designate $10,000 from the Endowment Funds as collateral to support our $10,000 “Line of Credit” at the First Fi- nancial Bank of Winnebago. We have not used the LOC yet and hope we never have to. (Borrowed money always needs to be paid back). Deacons reported that they were prepared to cover the services while Pastor and family are on vacation. Trustees: Lawn mowing signup sheet on “coat rack” wall. If you would like to volunteer to mow but do not have a lawn mower contact Jeremiah or Don Selvig. We do have a church lawn mower that we store at Royers. Trustee, Michael White, will be working with Ron Howe and Jeremiah Schutt on the speaker system. Pastor’s Comments: If a Pastor is needed while he is on vacation contacts a deacon. His telephone number will be listed in the bulletin. Pastor accepted plans for the preschool thru kindergarten Sunday school classes for this fall. They are exploring material from “Arch Books” that would be appropriate for this age group. Pastor requested ap- proval to purchase these materials if this is what they want to use at a cost of $250. Motion passed. Pastor stated that a meeting for VBS will be held in early June. Board of Education will work on the fall Sunday school plans. Pastor has met with Michael and Rose White regarding member visits. Pastor presented plans for next year’s confir- mation class requirements. The plan will be reviewed with parents and students and states what the responsibilities of the parents and students are. Motion and approval passed. Pastor suggested that when we select a “Mission of the Month” door offering we commit to $50 minimum for the month. If door collection is not attained we pay the dif- ference from the General Fund. Motion passed by council. “Move Forward” recap: Family night was a success. Next event will be in June which is open to all members of the congregation. Confirmation and High School grads recognition breakfast was well attended. We are looking for mu- sicians to participate in contemporary services. Open to all. Contact Jeremiah or Annette Jenkins. Past Business: Meeting at Easton was postponed to sometime in June. Funfest plans are in process. Signup sheets for help will be posted soon. Recap of Sunday, May 7, voters meeting was presented. We will tile around the par- sonage sometime this summer. “Do It Ourselves” project was approved by the voters. Tom Golly will be doing the excavating and tile, etc. We will need some manual labor. Contact Herb if you are able to help. Tom Krumholtz Construction will be contracted to install some steel beams to straighten the basement walls. Project will cost around $10,000. We once again are asking for your financial support. Contributions should be designated for the “Parsonage Fund”. Thank you. Does anyone have suggestions and talent to make some type of visual summary of our collection progress for this project? If so contact Herb. New Business: Don Selvig requested approval of a project to redesign the flower bed in front of our sign in front of the church. The timbers are deteriorating. Dale and Vickie Wiederhoeft will do the work. Don will use his “Thrivent Project” card to finance the material. Council approved. Meeting adjourned with “The Lord’s Prayer”. LAWN MOWING SIGN-UP
There is a sign-up sheet for mowing the church lawn on the bulletin board in the narthex. If you can help with
this job this summer please sign-up. There are dates open in June thru October and a big thank you to Mike
White for mowing the lawn since April 28th.
VBS TIME
Summer is here and that means it’s Vacation Bible School time. VBS planning and the Board of Ed meeting
will be Thursday June 8th at 8pm. Anyone willing to help out with VBS, please plan on attending this meeting.
Dates for VBS are Sunday, July 3st to Thursday August 3rd.

There will be no fellowship Sundays June, July and August we resume this in September.

Monday June 26th is the annual Lutheran Valley Fair Day. This year4 the ticket booth will be open from
