Parts for the semiconductor industry, parts which are growing continuously smaller, require the use of image processing at various stages of the automatic manufacturing line. Numerous illumination systems are used in these processes.
Today, LCD plates are used in virtually all types of home electronics, from computers to cellular telephones. CCS LED illumination systems are being used in the manufacturing and control of these types of transparent plates.
The full advantages of LED illumination systems can be realized in the high-speed, reliable inspection processes required for the mass production of cans, plastic drink bottles, etc.
LED illumination systems are being used for damage inspection and external inspection as part of the manufacturing processes of O-rings and bearings used to manufacture automobile and machine parts.
Chipping and scratching can occur during the manufacturing of clear objects such as glass sheets, bottles and lenses. Many objects that could not be accurately inspected visually can now be inspected using LED illumination and image processing.
The stable, color-selectable output of LED illumination systems makes them ideal for use in the inspection processes required by the strict quality controls used in food and pharmaceutical product manufacturing.

The Unique Technologies and Development Capacities of CCS

Flat Lights
Using CCS original flexible board, a high-density LED array is arranged in an umbrella configuration, creating an extremely bright concentration of light at the center of the illumination area. This is the "standard model" for LED illumination systems. This configuration is being used in a wide range of applications.
Using CCS original flexible board, we are able to create an optimum inclination angle. Low-angle illumination is ideally suited for edge detection and for inspecting metal surfaces for printing, damage, etc.

The highest intensity is achieved at the range of LWD 50-100 mm. Avoid using the light closer to the object, otherwise it will result in a dark area at the center of the illumination field.
CCS has established a manufacturing method using the FFC (Flexible board, Folded Conic) system. Using a flexible board makes it possible to improve product quality and increase manufacturing speed.
Illumination Structure of LDR2-90 Examples of Ring Illumination Images
The CCS Original FFC System Significantly suppressing the temperature rise of LED
With conventional construction, LED lights are not able to dissipate heat with total efficiency due to the gap between the PCB and aluminum housing. By employing a special heat dissipating enclosure between the PCB and the housing in CCS' new construction, there is substantial absorption of heat generation from LED, and efficient heat conductivity into the housing. This new design suppresses the temperature rise of LED sharply, providing stable images for a long period of time.
The flexible board is formed to the desired shape and a high-density LED array placed on the substrate. The light is concentrated at the center of the illumination system.

Aluminum is used as the outer material for nearly all of the image processing LEDs systems produced by CCS. Aluminum is a good heat conductor and acts as a heat sink to keep the internal temperature of the illumination system from rising. Heat can be a major problem for LED illumination systems, decreasing light intensity and reducing the life of the LEDs. The use of an aluminum body helps minimize these problems.
The LDR-LA-1 is an ultra-low-angle illumination system with an ultra-thin design of just 10 mm. The thin design means that only minimal space is required for installation. At a working distance of 5 to 10 mm, the system can emphasize edges and height variations, as shown in the photograph below.
Compatible with Diffusion Rings and Plates
Optional diffusion rings and plates are available for many CCS lights.
Using a diffusion ring or panel suppresses glare and LED reflections that may be a problem when capturing images of glossy applications.

High-density arrays using high-intensity LEDs create optimum oblique lighting conditions for LCD character inspection, label inspection, and other inspection applications.
High-intensity LED arrays in a rectangular oblique illumination unit
The angle of the LED arrays can be adjusted independently for use in a wide range of different situations. The angle and direction of lighting can completely alter the image obtained. Each application differs in its reflectivity and the presence of any surface characteristics. Using the LDQ Series, the lighting can be adjusted accordingly to use direct light, reflected light, or diffused reflected light to obtain the best possible image.
The focus angle characteristics of the LEDs can be selected to match the distance to the work and the field of view. LDL-74x27-W (±40 ) and LDL-74x27-N (±20 ). The W type is for uniform viewing of a wide field and the N type is for bright viewing of a narrow range.

The use of power LEDs markedly enhances light intensity compared with conventional diffusion ring lights. The unique illumination structure achieves a uniform area with higher flexibility.
The unique illumination structure effectively diffuses and irradiates light from the LED. Since there is little change in the uniform area even if the distance from a workpiece to a light is changed, this series can be used in a wide variety of environments and for diverse applications.
