u Once completed email this to: [email protected]

EXPRESSION OF

INTEREST

u We can now register your students Expression of Interest for our Gateway Programmes on our website.

u http://www.serviceiq.org.nz/schools/gateway-training/gateway/

INTERVIEW PROCESS

u Students are interviewed and selected by our Schools Transitions Advisors.

u Our Schools Transitions Advisors will then inform the schools on how their students went.

REGISTER STUDENTS

u Once selected, your students will be given a registration form to complete.

u This is then sent into ServiceIQ for processing. Note: Students will be registered by their legal name that is listed in KMAR/NSN identifier.

Schools Transitions

Advisor

u Our Schools Transitions Advisors will arrange store placements and resources for your students.

u Our Schools Transitions Advisors will work with your students to ensure they complete their assessments.

COMPLETION

u On completion of the programme, your students' assessments will be returned to the school so their credits can be reported to NZQA.

u ServiceIQ will issue your students with a certificate.

Note: Certificates can take around two weeks to come through from our printers.

Retail is an exciting career choice with loads of possibilities – from helping customers, product displays, marketing, running a store, to management at head office.

Warehouse Red Shirts in Schools is a Gateway Programme that gives students a chance to get valuable work experience in retail and help make the move from school into a career.

Students will gain credits that can be used towards a nationally recognised New Zealand Certificate in Retail. They’ll be supported all the way and learn important skills in line with industry standards including: effective communication; personal presentation; product knowledge and teamwork.

How it worksStudents will receive a placement with The Warehouse and will be fully supported by a dedicated Schools Transitions Advisor who works with store management to make sure they get an all-round understanding of the world of retail. Students will be supplied with customised learning resources, clear development plans and support from the Schools Transitions Advisor who will keep their school up to date. Students’ work will be assessed by ServiceIQ.

Programme detailsThe programme involves 10 days’ work experience over 10 weeks and runs nationwide.

It costs $500 +GST per student and results in a Red Shirts in Schools certificate. The certificate is made up of a set menu of credits (see below) which can be used towards a New Zealand Certificate in Retail.

As part of The Warehouse Red Shirts in Schools package each student will receive:

uu a 10 week work placement with The Warehouse

uu customised learning resources

uu assessment and support through a dedicated Schools Transitions Advisor

uu Polo shirts (these will need to be returned on the last day).

SEEDS (Students Entering Employment Developing Skills) is a Gateway Programme that gives students a chance to get valuable work experience in supermarket retail and help make the transition from school into a career.

Students will gain credits that can be used towards a nationally recognised New Zealand Certificate in Retail. This could also lead to a career in retail or a pathway into a butchery or bakery apprenticeship. They’ll be supported all the way and learn important skills in line with industry standards including: customer service; personal presentation; food safety; product knowledge and teamwork.

How it worksStudents will be supplied with customised learning resources, clear development plans and support from the Schools Transitions Advisor who will keep their school up to date. Students’ work will be assessed by ServiceIQ.

Programme detailsThe SEEDS Programme is made up of 22 credits covering the fundamentals in customer service identified by the industry as essential for the retail workplace. The programme involves 10 days’ work experience over 10 weeks, plus pre-workplace support.

It costs $500 +GST per student and results in a SEEDS Countdown certificate. The certificate is made up of a set menu of credits (see below) which can be used towards a New Zealand Certificate in Retail.

As part of Countdown SEEDS package each student will receive:

uu a 10 week work placement with Countdown

uu learning resources and assessment materials

uu assessment and support through a dedicated Schools Transitions Advisor

uu Polo shirts (students can keep these).

Learn the ropes from New Zealand’s famous service experts – you’ll be looking after customers, looking after cars, and looking after yourself by gaining skills that can get you on the road to an exciting career in retail.

The Z Forecourt Concierge Certificate is a Gateway Programme that gives students a great opportunity to gain both valuable work experience plus NZQA credits that can be used towards a nationally recognised New Zealand Certificate in Retail.

They’ll be supported and learn important skills in line with industry standards including: customer service; health and safety; effective communication; personal presentation; product knowledge and teamwork.

A career in retail offers loads of possibilities, from customer care and sales and marketing through to management.

How it worksSelected students will receive a 10 day work experience placement over a 10 week period within a Z site and will be supported by a Z Coach and a ServiceIQ Schools Transitions Advisor who liaise with store management to make sure they get an all-round understanding of the world of Z. Students will receive learning resources and e-learning logins to the Z Academy. Students will also be supplied with clear development plans and support from the Schools Transitions Advisor who will keep their school up to date. Students’ work will be assessed by ServiceIQ.

Programme detailsThe programme involves 10 days’ work experience over a 10 week period.

Specific regions offer a two week holiday programme from Monday to Friday. Please contact your Schools Transitions Advisor for more information.

Schools to provide safety boots – as per Z Health & Safety guidelines.

It costs $500 +GST per student and results in a Z Forecourt Concierge Certificate. The certificate is made up of a set menu of NZQA credits (see below) which may be used towards a New Zealand Certificate in Retail.

As part of Z in Schools package each student will receive:uu work placement from 10am – 5pm each placement day

uu full uniform including pants, shirt, cap and name badge (to be returned on last day of placement)

uu learning and assessment resources and a dedicated Z Coach

uu assessment and support from a ServiceIQ Schools Transitions Advisor.

The McDonald’s OASIS Programme

HERE’S A STARTER FOR A CAREER IN HOSPITALITY

Hospitality is an exciting career choice with loads of possibilities – from food preparation, serving customers and cooking up a storm to running a restaurant, and managing the whole business. The McDonald’s OASIS (Offering Assistance to Students in Schools) is a gateway programme that gives students interested in a hospitality career the chance to get real hands-on work experience with this world-leading business. It’s also a big help for students who want to move into a hospitality job and develop a rewarding career when school finishes.

On the menuStudents on OASIS get to work with the team in a local McDonald’s restaurant. They’ll learn important skills that are right up with industry standards including: food safety, customer service, personal presentation and teamwork. They will also gain nationally recognised unit standards.

The OASIS programme was introduced by ServiceIQ and McDonald’s to support hospitality training in schools.

How it worksStudents gain their work experience with one shift a week over six weeks at a McDonald’s restaurant that’s close to home. Training for each student is 30 hours in total and the schedule is agreed with the student, their school and McDonald’s.

The McDonald’s OASIS Programme

HERE’S A STARTER FOR A CAREER IN HOSPITALITY

Hospitality is an exciting career choice with loads of possibilities – from food preparation, serving customers and cooking up a storm to running a restaurant, and managing the whole business. The McDonald’s OASIS (Offering Assistance to Students in Schools) is a gateway programme that gives students interested in a hospitality career the chance to get real hands-on work experience with this world-leading business. It’s also a big help for students who want to move into a hospitality job and develop a rewarding career when school finishes.

On the menuStudents on OASIS get to work with the team in a local McDonald’s restaurant. They’ll learn important skills that are right up with industry standards including: food safety, customer service, personal presentation and teamwork. They will also gain nationally recognised unit standards.

The OASIS programme was introduced by ServiceIQ and McDonald’s to support hospitality training in schools.

How it worksStudents gain their work experience with one shift a week over six weeks at a McDonald’s restaurant that’s close to home. Training for each student is 30 hours in total and the schedule is agreed with the student, their school and McDonald’s.

u Our vessel, MV Te Aihe will depart from the Kāpiti Boating Club at Paraparaumu Beach.

Students will learn Māori customs and kaitiaki practices, go kiwi spotting, work amongst New Zealand native birds and gain an understanding of tourism sustainability. They get a chance to work in a realistic tourism environment that is one of its kind in New Zealand. Limited spaces are available on this camp.

Details:Costs: $690+GST.

Travel: Schools will be responsible for arranging students’ transport to and from Taheke Marae as follows:

u Arrive no later than 9.45am for Powhiri briefing.

u Powhiri will be at 10.00am on the arrival date.

u Pick up for return no earlier than 12.00pm noon on the last day of camp.

All course transport requirements during the camp will be organised for the students.

Cash: Your student may want to purchase some souvenirs to remember their adventure, so it might be a good idea for them to have a small amount of cash for this.

Clothing: We ask that students ensure they pack as much from the clothing list as they can.

Meals: Everyone will be fed all their meals and snacks for the duration of the camp, but please let us know if your student has any special dietary or learning needs on the ‘Gateway Camp Parental Approval and Application Form’.

All pages in the ‘Gateway Camp Parental Approval and Application Form’ must be completed, signed (by parent/caregiver), collected by Gateway Coordinators, and then emailed or posted to ServiceIQ before students are registered.

Students may be required to complete Pre-camp Student Learning Material before they arrive at the Cultural Camp.
