Pink Pupil-Parent SurveyOn Wednesday, November 7, 2018 your child will bring home a pink Pupil-Parent Survey form.  The purpose of this form is to

assure that Loudoun County Public Schools will receive all permissible Federal Impact Aid funds.  Loudoun is eligible to receive Impact Aid funds if either parent or guardian is on active duty in the uniformed services or if either parent or guardian is working on federal owned property located in

Virginia.  Since these funds are used to support public education, receiving them will help reduce the amount of local taxes needed to provide an education for your child.  You can

help by:

1. Completing one form for each school aged child in the family.

2. Return the form to your child’s teacher by Friday, November 9, 2018.

Reading Strategy of the Month When your child is reading a simple book at home, be sure that he/she is pointing to each word, “one word, one point”. If your child inserts an extra word when reading, or the words and points are not matching, ask him or her to “go back and re-read to make it match”.

Dear Parents,

We are very happy with the continued progress our students have made during this first quarter of school. I look forward to discussing your child’s progress at our conference.

With PALS testing completed, we will begin our guided reading groups. During this time, we will continue to work in small groups in guided reading, word work, and other literacy activities.

As we work here at school, we hope that you will be able to assist your child in the activities (learning certain letters, letter sounds, numbers and counting) suggested to you at our conference, to help your child become more efficient in these areas. Thank you in advance for all of your help!

As always, please feel free to contact me regarding any concerns you may have about your child. You can reach me at [email protected].

We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving and relaxing break later this month!

Sincerely,

Janie and Tracy
