Science

Adaptation

In Term 1 we learnt about Earthquakes and how they affect the Earth’s surface. Read the attached informative text ‘Earthquakes’ and answer the attached questions. Extension Research other ways that an Earthquake can be measured and draw a picture to represent each of these tools.

PDHPE

Create another dance routine for one of your favourite songs! Find a space in your home/yard, make sure there is plenty of space for movement and no obstacles in the way. Play 1 minute of the song you chose and create your own dance routine for the song. It can include dance moves like:

• Jumping

• Stepping

• Spinning

• Turning

• Hopping

• Or any other moves you can think of!

You can find more inspirations from Miss Ashleigh’s dance videos on the school website: https://wileyparkps.com.au/fitness/

History

The 19th Century was a time of mass migration from Europe. Read the ‘Australian Migrants’ fact cards to find out who these Australian migrants were and what their contribution to Australia was. After reading the fact cards, complete the ‘What Would You Ask?’ worksheet by choosing two different migrant groups to interview and ask four questions you may be curious about. It could be questions such as:

• How did they feel settling in Australia?

• What was the biggest barrier for them staying in Australia?

• How were they treated in Australia?

Be creative with your questions!

Creative arts In this activity, you are going to design your very own dream car. Do you think we will still be driving on roads in the future? What if you want to take your car over difficult terrains, like sand, mountains or the ocean? Does a car even need to have four wheels or any wheels at all? Take some inspiration from animals. Imagine a car with spider legs, a car that hops like a kangaroo, a slithering snake car or a car that flies in any kind of way. Sketch a draft of your dream car that moves in a different way. Make sure to explain your designs using labels.

PDHPE In Stage 3, we have been learning about e-safety. While you may know the risks of sharing personal content with strangers, you may not consider the chances that online friendships formed are not genuine. Catfishing is when someone creates a fake identity to gain the trust of someone, usually with the intention of requesting things such as personal information or intimate pictures. Read the text on ‘The Strange Story of the Singing Clownfish’ and answer the attached questions using the evidence from the text.

Reminder: You should be reading EVERY DAY for 20 minutes. Use the ONLINE resource page on the school website to access online

activities. Please note SOME websites require you to create an account.
