situation that is impossible to get out of? This is a light hearted and witty story about a
very uncomfortable situation When we are reading try to put yourself in
the narrator’s shoes.

SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION The narrator of the story is a writer. He is not famous when this incident takes
place and he is very short of money The lady he meets for lunch is an admirer of
his work and he meets her for the first time at the restaurant face to face.
He is rather disappointed when he meets her. He has been corresponding with her.
THE SETTING
WOW ! What a lunch for someone who only eats ‘one thing at lunch’
MY TIPS Stimulate interest. Provide a few key points to contextualise the
story for your learners. Provide a few vocabulary words that are
important for comprehension Visual stimuli really help Don’t stop too much and ask questions it
