In fact, if I have to have dental work done, they usually have to give me more Novocain than the average person (though, I have heard that’s prey common among red-heads). What about you? How much physical pain can you endure? Or, maybe the bigger challenge for some of us is the emoonal pain, or mental anguish we have to deal with in this life. It really isn’t a queson of IF we will have to endure pain - but, WHEN. So, the real challenge lies in how we react to it. Let’s noce how one man reacted to pain. His wasn’t physical - it was emoonal, psychological, mental anguish. When you read of Job’s pain in the first chapter of the book of Job, you read of a man who lost every- thing. He lost all of his earthly wealth, and he lost all of his children. I can’t even im- agine. But, when was the last me you looked at how Job reacted to the pain? Pay close aenon to these verses: “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshipped. And he said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’” (Job 1:20-21 - emphasis added) When we’re in pain, when we’re suffering, we don’t usually think it’s a me for wor- ship. But, perhaps we need to learn a lesson from Job. Perhaps it’s Job’s decision to immediately focus on God, that carried him through the tragedies he endured. Per- haps this ability to worship in dark mes is what gave Job his famed paence. The next me you find yourself in pain - regardless of what type of pain - don’t ne- glect the opportunity to worship God. Instead, push yourself into His presence, and allow your relaonship with Him to heal your wounds. ~Bryan Dill Reacting To Pain
