End of 2020

As we say goodbye to another year (and what a wild year it was!),it's time to look back and reflect on how we did and prepare for 2021.2020 showed us incredible challenges, shed light on some truths, and

helped us get clear on the people, places, and things that actually matter.

We got closer to our families and to our communities, and people who livelives completely different from our own, and lives just like ours.

Yes 2020 was hard. It was emotional. Not every day was fun and sunshine. But you’re here reading this, and I’m so thankful and proud of you.

We’re going to take what we learned this year and keep moving forward.

There was so much transformation this year, so let's celebrate that! Here is the little ritual I complete at the end of each year. I share it with

the hope it may help you enter 2021 with excitement, clarity, and joy.

iMy own end of year ritual

We’ve all heard about habits and how they are built through our dailyrituals. These are things we do consistently, in a very specific order andwith a very specific intention.

My end-of-year ritual is like that for me. It’s something I do tophysically and emotionally wrap up each year, take time to reflect onmy wins and losses, and set my intentions for the year to come. It looksdifferent every year and 2020 is no exception. I turned 49 this year inisolation, and might turn 50 in the same conditions, and that's ok. I amhere, and that's what matters. You are here too...let's celebrate that!

Creating your own end ofyear ritual

Just because this is what I do, it doesn’t mean you have to follow myprocess step for step and line by line. However, I do really think it'simportant to have an end-of-year ritual and to take the time to reflecton how far we have come and how much we have conquered.

It's a practice that is great for all of us, even if we don't feel like it ismaking a huge difference. It’s kind of like reading a bedtime storybefore the kiddos go to bed; it helps you wind down, sets the tone forwhat’s happening, and marks that another day is done! If you do decide to follow my ritual, or include some of the steps in yourown, great! Feel free to take what you want and leave the rest… orleave it all! The beauty of an end-of-year ritual is that it’s entirelyyours to create.

Set the MoodI personally love to set up my space for what I want to accomplish, evenwhen I'm not doing this end-of-year ritual and reflection!

Of course, depending on where you live, the time of year you’re doingthis, candles, cozy blankets, sweaters, and hot drinks are definitely “inseason,” so I recommend choosing whatever makes you feel the best. If a cocktail and dance music is more your style, go for it!

For me, I love making tea, lighting a winter scented candle or diffusingsome essential oils like frankincencse and peppermint, grabbing a fewof my favorite crystals (rose quartz, amethyst, and selenite) to up theenergy and vibe in the room, and playing some acoustic or chill-musicplaylist to help set the mood. Look for some 528khz music and listenwith your headphones on while you do this ritual for the ultimate highvibe experience.

Reflect on the Last Year

Once I get all settled in, I like to start journaling. This can be a simplereview of how I’m feeling about the past year, but I’ve also used promptsbefore to get the pen rolling. I also love to look through my phone’sphotos and my daybook to look at what happened, remind myself of thelittle moments that made me smile, and to refresh my memory about allthe things that I did and accomplished. I also ask myself the questions you will find on the next pages asprompts to dig deep about how I am really feeling.

If you want to review your business income, your sales or client goals, orother more tactical goals, I have included a separate and specific goal-setting page just for that! This is a time to wrap up, reflect, and feelgood…without instantly putting pressure on yourself!

Set IntentionsNow that you’ve got your thoughts down, it’ll be easier to see what youwant to leave behind and say goodbye to in 2020 and what you want tocarry forward into a sparkly new 2021!

Some people enjoy choosing words of the year. For 2020 my word wasABUNDANCE and I think I will carry it into 2021 because it worked reallywell for me! Will you choose a word for 2021? Others like to journal itout. Others like to light a candle and send up a wish, a prayer, a shout-out — it’s whatever floats your boat! The next few pages are questions toget your intention-setting started.

I love setting intentions because it gives me something to guide decisionsin the new year. If something is in alignment with that intention, it’s a“Heck yes!” If it’s not in alignment with that intention, it’s a “Heck no!”

Write your future self a letter

This is one of my favorite parts of the end-of-year ritual! If you do thisritual for more than a year, you’ll also be able to read your letter toyourself at the end of the next year! I’ve been doing this for about 20years now, and having this little note to myself is so powerful — it’s likethe past and future versions of myself go and have a chat! I usually write down what I think the year ahead is going to bring. I writedown my intentions and I write them down as if they’ve alreadyhappened. I essentially write them into existence. When I am finishedwriting it all down, I get an envelope, seal it up, then tuck it into the backof my daybook for safe keeping. I don’t read it again until the followingNew Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.

Fun right? Use the next pages to write a letter to yourself!
