LESSON LEARNTEach of the participants who attended the seminar learnt a lot of lessons and gains a lot of knowledge and understanding. Below are the compilation of the summary notes and lesson learnt throughout the seminar which has been divided into its respective chapter.

BELIEF IN THE ANGELS

What are the Mala’ikah(Angels)? Linguistic Definition of Mala’ikah: Plural of Malak Malak means Malik (owner/take things to the great strength) or Almuka (message) Mala’ikah carry message from Allah. The do not have free will. They will not do something to disobey Allah.

A common misconception: Angels are creatures of light that have no physical attributesHowever, it is mentioned in Al-Quran and Hadith that angels have physical attributes. They made by light but don’t mean they don’t have physical attributes.

Angels have wings.

“All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the (only) Originator [or the (only)] of the heavens and the earth, Who made the Angels messengers with wings, -two or three or four. He increases in the creation what He wills. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things. “ [35:1]

Angels can teach human.- Eg: Jibrael sent down to see Nabi Muhammad and teach him

Angels have haya (shyness)- Eg: Angels feel shy when they see Uthman because he’s also shy. Because angles

have haya so we need to have haya too Angels usually come in form of male to counter back the thought of pagan arab that

they are female (daughter of Allah) Smokes, smells, irritates them They have hand, can speak and pulling Israfel holding trumpet and blow it They made by the light but doesn’t mean the light that we are imagined Angels listening to our recitation

- Eg: Rasulullah recites Al-Quran in front of Jibrael

9

Page 11: rays of faith reports

How do others view the angles?- Pagan Arab – angels are daughters of Allah- Philosopers- Jewish – can ‘shape’ the malaikat- Christian – believe angels have wings

The ruling regarding Belief in the Angels:Belief in the Angels is the 2nd pillar of Eeman. A person is not a believer without this pillar.

“The messenger believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of Faith. Each one (of them) believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Apostles. “We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His Apostles. “And they say, “We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the end of all journeys” [2:285]

Why is belief in the Angels the 2nd pillar of Eeman?

Evidence for the Obligation to Believe in the Angels

Al-Quran

10

Belief in The Angels is the 2nd Pillar of

Faith

Quran

Sunnah

Ijma'

Logic

Page 12: rays of faith reports

“Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His Angels and Apostles, to Jibreel and Meeka’eel, then surely Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith” [2:98]

As-Sunnah- Eg: The Prophet said, “Eemaan is to believe in Allah, and His Angels, and His

Books…).” [Al-Bukharee and Muslim] Ijma’

- Ibn Hazm mentioned the consensus on this issue in his book maratib Al-Ijma’. Ibn Taymiyyah and others also reported this consensus

Logic- Believing in the Quran and Messengers necessitates.

Characteristics of the Angels They were created to worship Allah and carry out His command They commit no sins and have no free will (Jews and Christian claims that devil is a

falling angels who committed sins) They are levels (near to Allah, bottom) [37:165] – the best among them is who witness

the battle of badr. Jibreel is the chief of Malaikat. They do not have gender- it is wrong to claim that they are daughter of god They have the ability to change form They never tire of worship [21:20] Angels are of an enormous number

- Eg: There are no spot in the heaven that doesn’t contain angels who prostrate towards Allah always.

They love the righteous and pray for them They pray against the wrongdoers They don’t eat and drink

Things angels will pray for you Pray for somebody else, angels will pray for you Attending class to seek knowledge or to teach knowledge Sleep in wudhuk Visit sick person, Allah will send angel to protect you Sedekah – Allah will replace it with a better made Who fill gap between saf Take sahur during Ramadhan Those who comes mosque early

11

Page 13: rays of faith reports

Things angels will pray against you Angels cursed for those treat their parents bad Those who terrified others/brothers, angel will cursed you until you pull it down Died in kufur Woman who don’t answer husband call for no reason

Each Angels has task 19 angles – guide the hellfire, the chief is Malik 4 angels – protect human from thing that might harm you Allah protect children through angels, shows His Mercy 2 angels, write the good and bad deeds Allah counted every breath, some companions said angels write everything but based

on Ibnu Abbas RA, he said, angels write everything but during the presentation to Allah, Allah raises everything He wants.

Iblis not an angle, because they against the command of Allah. Iblis made by fire. Iblis are among Jinns. The prove is stated in Al-Baqarah: 34. Iblis is with angel but doesn’t mean they are one of angle. Iblis commit sins and have choices to make.

Angels will not enter a house with pictures of animal/human or have black dogs but what about other angels?

- Angels that protect you still there only angels of the mercy will not enter

Wisdom behind their creation General: All Angels were created to worship Allah and glorify Him

“They celebrate his Praises night and day, and never do the flag or intermit” [21:20]

Specific: For example, the archangel Jibreel revealed the message of Allah to all the Prophets (including the Zaboor, Tawrah, Injeel and Quran). Other angels include Meeka’eel, who discharges control of vegetation and rain, and Israfeel who will blow the trumpet on Yawm Al-Qiyamah (the Day of Resurrection).

The effects of Belief in the Angels on the Life of the Muslim Protects from false beliefs and heresy Aids the Believers in remaining steadfast in their religion Helps the Believers to be patient Shows the honor of the believing human Demonstrates the Greatness of our Lord

BELIEF IN THE JINN

The creation of the Jinna) Why were the Jinn created?

Worshipping Allah‘I have only created Jinn and men, that they may worship Me Alone.’ [51:56]

b) The nature of their creationCreated from fire‘And the Jinn, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.’ [15:27]Created before Adam

The ruling regarding Belief in the JinnBelieving in the Jinn is obligatory. Denying their existence is Kufr by the consensus of the scholars.

‘Say, “It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinn listened (to the Qur’an). They said, ‘We have surely heard a wonderful recital!” [72:1]

Ash-Shaytana) Who is Ash-Shaytan

He is Iblees He is one of the Jinn

‘When we said to the Angels, “Bow down yo Adam”, they bowed down except Iblees. He was one of the Jinn’ [18:50]

‘the father’ of all Jinnb) The wisdom behind the creation of Ash-Shaytan

Struggling with Ash-Shaytan and his allies is a manifestation of completing one’s servitude to Allah

Fearing sin A test A manifestation of Allah’s complete power Appreciating the opposite Demonstrating Allah’s complete control and ownership Manifestation of Allah’s complete wisdom Praising Allah for suppressing the Shaytan and showing His patience

13

Page 15: rays of faith reports

Among the Jinn are the Good and Evil‘There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary. We follow divergent paths.’ [72:11]

Iblees will never be a Muslim

Abilities of the Jinn‘A ‘Ifreet of the Jinn said, “I will bring it to you before you can rise from your place. Surely, I am strong and trusty for such work.” Then one who had knowledge of the Book said, “I will bring it to you within the blink of an eye!’ [27:39-40]

The Jinn‘s weakness They fear some believers

o Fear with Saidina Umar al-Khattabo Faithful servants

‘Surely, My (faithful) servants; over them you have no power; and your Lord suffices as their guardian’[17:65]

Their powers are limitedAnas reported that the Prophet said, “The Shaytan cannot come in my shape.”[Muslim]

Possession3 ways the Jinn possess humans:

Magic Revenge Adoration or lust

BELIEF IN ALLAH’S BOOKS

The meaning of Belief in the BooksBelief in Allah’s Books is a pillar of Eeman. A person is not a believer without this pillar. AllahSWT saysO you who believe! Believe in Allah, and His Messenger, and the book that He has sentdown to His Messenger, and the Scripture that He sent down to those before, andwhosoever disbelieves in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the LastDay, then indeed he has strayed far away. [4:136]Belief in the books entails:

Believing in the previous Books that Allah revealed to His messengers. Included arethose that Allah has specifically mentioned in the Quran such as:

The scriptures of Ibraheem:And this is in the former Scriptures, the Scriptures of Ibraheem and Moosa. [87:18-19]

The Zaboor:….and unto Dawood We gave the Zaboor. [17:55]

The Tawraah:Verily, We did send down the Tawrah [to Moosa]. Therein was guidance and light. [5:44]

The Injeel:Then, We sent after them, Our messengers, and We sent 'Eesa son of Maryam, and gave him the Injeel…. [57:27]

There are many other books of an unknown number and with unknown names. Allah had told the Prophet (PBUH) that other Prophets were not believed before, even though they were given books and clear proofs. Then if they reject you (O Muhammad), so were Messengers rejected before you, who came with Al-Bayyinat (clear signs, proofs, evidence) and the scripture and the book of enlightenment. [3:184]

Believing in the Quran and that it is the last book Allah revealed Believing in the wahy (revelation)

Verily, We have inspired you (O Mohammad) as We inspired Nooh and the Prophets after himl We (also) inspired Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishaq, Yaquob, and Al- Asbat, Eesa, Ayoob, Yoonus, Haroon, and Sulaiman, and to Dawood We gave the Zaboor. [4:163]

The word book is 'kitab' in 'Arabic. Linguistically 'katb' is the root for 'kitab'. 'Katb' means gathering something. The reason we call books as kitab as we gather or collect our thoughts

15

Page 17: rays of faith reports

together in a book. From Islamic point of view messengers received books piece by piece instead of a complete collection atone shot. When the messengers received a book that get it in a verbal form instead of a written one. The only exception was that once Musa (AWS) received a writtentablet written directly from Allah SWT. All of the books are Allah’s words. This entails that Allah speaks.

What is our position regarding the books remaining today (the Tawrah and the Injeel)? We believe in original revelations. We also believe that there is change happened to them. We have example of

'Thalmud' was invented after the time of Prophet Musa (AWS) or those 'Gospels/testaments' that was invented after Prophet 'Eesa (AWS).

Ibnul Qayyim specifies five (5) kinds of 'Tahreef' (change) that crept into those scriptures: Part of the text was lost. Additions were put in. Incorrect translation occurred. Meaning: incorrect 'tafseer' or interpretation happened. Words and phrases were substituted with others.

Believing in the Last Book : Al-Qur’anCharacteristics of the previous Wahee (revelation):

They called for Tawheed Source of guidance to people. Gave glad tidings of the coming of the Prophet (SAW) Gave the rules Made the lawful and unlawful Discusses the Day of Judgment. The Qur'an is Allah’s last revelation and the best of His speech. The Qur'an means recitation. Prophet Dawood’s book was also recited, so it was also

called Qur'an. It has been given different names and descriptions. Al-Qur'an has been given different

names by Allah SWT. Such as Al-Qur'an, Al-Furqaan, Al-Kitab, Al-Hudaa, As-Shifaa', Az-Zik'r, An-Noor, Al-Bayan, Al-Hayat, Ar-RooH, Ar-Rahmah

What are the unique qualities of the Quran? The Quran covers all the teachings of previous books:As Allah SWT says:

16

Page 18: rays of faith reports

And We have sent down to you (O Mohammad) the Book (this Quran) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Muhayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures)..[5:48]

Allah promised to safeguard it:Verily, it is We Who have sent down the dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). [15:9]Part of safeguarding the Qur'an is also to save the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).

Eeman in the Quran has two levels: The first level is a rukn of Eeman and leaving it is Kufr (Nawaqid Al-Eeman). It includes

believing that the Quran is the word of Allah, was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH), it is the last revelation, it was delivered to us completely, it is protected from addition and subtraction, it is a source of legislation, etc.

The second level includes obligations and recommendations. Leaving them is not considered Kufr. It includes applying all its rules, reading it, memorizing it, understanding it, etc. Sahabah would consider it a sign of hypocracy that someone doesn't finish the Qur'an in 40 days.

Al-Quran: The Greatest MiracleAl-Quran is a continuous miracle.

1. The language of the Qur'an itself.2. Knowledge or meaning. Al-Qur'an brought a lot of science and meaning which no

human was capable of bringing. For example, the scientific phenomena that Qur'an has described long before they were understood. Such as- Separation of Fresh/Salt water in the sea instead of their mixing,- Embryonic development stages in the mother's womb, etc.

3. Fulfilled many prophecies. Some examples:- Abu Lahab will not accept Islam. Abu Lahab could come forward an said that he had

accepted Islam and that would immediately nullify surah Lahab (or Masad).- Allah told the Prophet (PBUH) that he would fight with Quraish and he will defeat

them in Surat al-Qamar ayat 145. This verse was revealed when there were only few people accepted Islam from Prophet (SAW) and light of Islam was about to be put out. And this prophecy did not fulfill until 16 (sixteen) years later.

4. Effects on the soul: Al-Qur'an has a profound impact on one's soul. Even non-muslims will feel the effect and see the difference.

5. Protection from change since its revelation.

17

Page 19: rays of faith reports

6. Free from contradictions. If some verses were abrogated and replaced by other verses it was abrogated out mercy from ar-Rahman.

18

Page 20: rays of faith reports

BELIEF IN ALLAH’S MESSENGERSBelieving in the messengers is a pillar of Eeman. A person is not a believer without this pillar. Base on verse [2:285], it is stated that “Each one believes in Allah, His angles, his books, and his messengers. They say, “we make no distinction between one another of his messengers,”. Basically, Nabiyy is known as a prophet and Rasool in known as messenger.

Is every Nabiyy a Rasool and vice versa? There are two opinions regarding this question.

1st Opinion: Every Prophet is a Messenger and every Messenger is a Prophet.

No prove in Al-Quran and Sunnah that state the differences between Prophet and Messenger. For the first few minutes, he is selected as a prophet, then once they convey it to others they become a Messenger. Besides that, if the prophet get the knowledge and just seal it to himself, then how scholars can spread it to the others if the knowledge is not from prophet.

2nd Opinion: There is a difference between a Nabiyy and a Rasool.

Base on the hadeeth of Abu Dharr: The Prophet s.a.w was asked about the number of the Prophets and Messengers. He replied that there were 124,000 Prophets among whom 315 were Messengers [Ahamd, Ibn Hibban, At-Tabaranee].

Why did Allah send Messengers?Allah did send Messengers to us because humankind is in great need of messengers. In verse [57:25] it is stated that “Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice.” Besides, in verse [4:165], [17:15], and [42:52], it is also stated the reasons why did Allah send Messengers to us.

1. Bring life to our life: Messengers did bring a real life with soul. 2. Messengers teach us what Allah’s wants: Messengers convey message from Allah.3. Messengers help us to protect humanity by humanity: They teach us justice

19

Page 21: rays of faith reports

The meaning of Belief in the MessengersTwenty five Prophets are named in the Quran. There are people claim that Luqman is on the the prophets and there are twenty-six prophets stated in the Quran, but this in wrong since Luqman is just a wise man and not a Prophet.

All the Prophets and Messengers have no divine attributes. Base on verse [25:20], where it is stated that “And We never sent before you (O Muhammad s.a.w) and of the Messengers but verily, they ate food and walked in the markets”.

All Prophets and Messengers were male.

20

Page 22: rays of faith reports

BELIEF IN AL-QADAR

DefinitionsAl-Qadar : Linguistically this word is taken from the root qadara, meaning knew, predetermined and planned perfectly. Technically, Al-Qadar means Allah’s complete Knowledge, Writing in the Safe Tablet, and Willing of all things before their existence.Al-Qada’ :This word comes from the word qada’, which means judged, ordained, executed perfectly. Technically, it is Allah’s creation of all things by His Command and Will.

The phrase Al-Qada’ wal-Qadar was not mentioned as such in the Quran or Sunnah, and was not used by the Pious Predecessors. However, it became common in the works of Ahl As-Sunnah later.

The Pillars of Al-Qadar1. Al-‘Ilm (Allah’s Knowledge)2. Al-Kitabah (The Writing)3. Allah’s Mashee’ah (The Will of Allah)4. Al Amr (The Command)5. Al Khaliq (The Creation) Things that never take place, Allah knows what will happen if it happens.

Principles

#Allah is the Creator of All Things1. All creation falls under one of the two categories; good (Al-Khayr, Al-Hasanah) and bad

(Ash-Sharr, As-Sayyi’ah).2. It is undisputable that all good is attributed to Allah. Ahl As-Sunnah believe that we

cannot attribute evil to Allah; not as a name, Action or Quality. In Al-Quran, the act of evil is mentioned in the passive voice.

3. Sunni agreed that everything Allah created or allow to happen in this world is either 100% good or more good than bad only.

When bad things happen, there are so many good things happen behind it.

21

Page 23: rays of faith reports

Wisdom behind the existence of calamaties and sinfulness;o shows the Power of Allaho Allah wants us to pray to Him and praise Himo He is reminding us to remember and appreciate Him alwayso to make us be patient

Outcome of Allah’s decision is much better than ours. Allah always wants to make us better, everything happen to us was not for nothing.

#Allah’s Will (Mashee’ah) and Wisdom (Hikmah) are the reason behind all of His Actions. Will and Wisdom are based on His Knowledge.

We will NEVER know all the wisdoms behind Allah’s creation (because it is beyond our knowledge. Never compare it with our standard level.

Everything happen for a wisdom, everything that didn’t happen also for a reason/wisdom.

#Tawakkul in Allah while Taking the Means Tawakkul is one of the greatest acts of worship. Praying Istikharah

o misunderstanding among society is waiting for Allah’s signso just ask for His guide continuouslyo WE ourselves are responsible for our choiceso all things that we got all this time are bless from Him.

Rely on Allah, submit ourselves fully to Allah, after everything we have done. We will gain a great satisfy.

”I am most satisfied for what Allah chose for me than what I chose for myself” –Sa’ad bin Abi Waqas

Sometimes resistance in life keeps us balance.

#Free Will Human’s free will also part of Allah’s creation. Human acts according to Allah’s will. Allah created body for us, but it is our responsible on how we use it. Allah will guide us

on how to use it in good/bad way. Our choice to do it is our free will.

#At-Tawfeeq and Al-Khudhlan Al-Hidayah is guidance Al-Khudhlan means to be left to oneself Allah will never put us down & let us alone unless we really give/submit ourselves to

Allah. Hidayah (Guidance) can be;

o Worldly (is offered to everyone)o Religious (Hidayat Al-Bayan or Al-Irshad, and Hidayat At-Tawfeeq)

Qadar can be changed if we change ourselves Wisdom behind the Book (The Tablets) that Angels write;

o to show that nobody knows except Allaho to show the power of good deeds

Logical possibilities in our life Allah might; Will things that He doesn’t loves (e.g : the sin of Adam) Will things that He loves (e.g : sending Muhammad) Not will things that He loves (e.g : all creations become Muslim) Not will things that He doesn’t loves (e.g : all creations become Kafir) Religion and Predestination do not Contradict.

#Belief in Al-Qadar is part of Tawheed Ar-Ruboobiyyah, Al-Ilahiyaah, and Al-Asma and As-Sifat Benefits of Belief in Al-Qadar

1. Peace of mind2. Our concern is not so much with the past or future. Our main concern is our present

actions. (do not give up, take necessary steps to change the situations)3. It gives us the will power and determination to go forward in the way of Allah.4. It teaches us to be modest and humble. (no fear in heart, because Allah is always with

us).5. Leads to total dependence upon Allah. We take precautions; do as much as we can and

then depend upon Him.

BELIEF IN THE LAST DAY

What does Belief in the Day of Judgment Entail?Sheikh Waleed Basyouni touched on the its definition, effects of the Belief in the Last Day and showed us some names of the Last Day.

Belief in the Last Day is one of the pillars of Iman.

The HourNo one knows when the Hour will come. The Hour is near and the Hour falls on a Friday.

The signs of the Day of JudgementThe Signs are classified into Major Signs and Minor signs. Sheikh Waleed conducted a group activity: To mention the minor signs we know.

Death and Life in Al-BarzakhSheikh Waleed explained the Death as the first station of the Hereafter.

Al- Khatimah (A Person’s End) can be either Husn Al-Khatimah or Soo’ Al-Khatimah. Sheikh Waleed explained the causes and signs for each type of Khatimah.

Next, he talked about the Grave: The Pressing, the Questioning of the Angels, discussed what happens to the Soul and Body and the reward and punishment in the Grave.

The ResurrectionThe resurrection includes resurrection of bodies and soul. The Sheikh explained how different beliefs e.g. The Pagan Arabs, the Jews, the Christians and the Buddhists view this occurrence. The Blowing of As-Soor:- The role of the Angel Israfeel.

The Sheikh discussed the opinions of scholars: some say the Trumpet will be blown three times and others say two times.

24

Page 26: rays of faith reports

The Great GatheringThe Sheikh discussed where the land of resurrection is and how it will look like.

- The Land of the Gathering- The Disbelievers- Animals being resurrected and gathered- The first to be resurrected- The first to be dressed/ covered on the Day of Resurrecion- People will be gathered in groups

Sheikh also described how the people in the Gathering will look like including:- The Arrogant- The Wealthy Beggar- Those who steal from the War booty- Those who perform wudoo’- Those who call adhan- Those who give charity- Those who memorize surat al-baqarah and Ali Imran- The one who betrays the Muslim leader

The Prophet – saw – said: “Every slave (of Allah) shall be resurrected upon that which he died upon.”

The Standing Awaiting JudgmentSheikh discussed what will happen during the Mawqif:1. Allah will come2. Bringing of Jannah and Hellfire3. Intercession to start judgment : The Prophet Muhammad –saw- will have the special

intercession to start the judgment day. The intercessors on the Day of Ressurection:

- Allah ( The Most Merciful)- The Prophet – saw-- The Messengers- The Angels- The Martyrs- Children who pass away- Believers to one another- The Qur’an

4. Judgment and placing of Balance and passing out of books5. Approaching the pool

25

Page 27: rays of faith reports

The Judgment Sheikh touched on:

- How all people be brought forth (Before Allah)- Books given out- Asking and Judgement for Deeds that were recorded in their books- Whether all Creation be Judged?- Witnesses at the Judgement: Body parts, The earth (ground) and Prophets and messengers.

The nation of Muhammad –saw- will be the first to be judged. The second would be the followers of Musa.

When first brought forth to meet Allah we will first be asked: Who did you worship? (Your belief) and the second thing would be our salat. If our salat was incomplete, Allah –swt- will punish us until we are purified then only our records will be looked at.

We will be brought in front of Allah 3 times, the first two times, our records will be showed to us and the third time we will be asked 4 things about:

- Your life- Your youth- Your wealth- Your health

Every single page of the book represents one day of your life and it does not miss any single detail.

When flipping through the book, you might see good deeds you have never seen / done before. Those deeds were because of things you taught your children or others and then they passed it on to their children and children’s children therefore the good deeds multiply.

Sheikh also talked about:

- The wisdom behind weighing deeds.- The Description of Al-Meezan- What will be weighed?- Will the Non-Muslims’ deeds be weighed- How will Allah judge people- Whether there will be one scale for all nations, or different ones?

Al-Hawl (The Pool)Sheikh Waleed discussed the khilaf scholars had regarding when will the Hawl take place, whether it will be located after the bridge or before the bridge (sirat-ul-mustakim).

The Prophet -saw- said: “I will precede you at the Pool. Whoever comes to it will drink from it, and whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again. Some people will come to me, whom I will recognize and who will recognize me, and then there will be a barrier between me and them.”

Sheikh gave detailed descriptions of the Pool.

As-SiraatIn this section, Sheikh Waleed gives the description of as—siraat linguistically as well as technically. Linguistically, As-siraat means clear straight path while in its technical term it means ‘the bridge placed over the hellfire, over which Muslims will pass to enter Jannah’.

He also mentioned the characteristic of the bridge in great detail as well as described the ways different people will pass that bridge during that day according to their level of Iman. For example, some will pass with the speed of light, some will crawl and some who do not make it will fall straight into the Hellfire. In addition, the light provided for each person will also vary according to their level of faith.

Al-QantarahAl-Qantarah is, as mentioned in a hadeeth by Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudree, is a small arched bridge the believers have to pass before they enter paradise. Here is where retributions for injustice between people will be held until the people will be purified. Since there is no money or materialistic things present, people will do the transactions between the people with their deeds.

27

Page 29: rays of faith reports

Al-A’rafLinguistically, Al-A’raf means a high place, ie. A wall. Technically, there are many opinions about this place. These are the four famous opinions by Muslim scholars-

1. A high place from where you see Paradise and Hellfire

2. A wall between paradise and hellfire

3. A mountain between Jannah and Hellfire

4. It is the bridge (As-sirat)

The Sheikh said that the people who will be held in Al-A’raf are those whose bad and good deeds are equal, or the person lived at a time where no prophets were present or they died as a shaheed but they disobeyed their parents.

Paradise and HellfireIn this section, Sheikh Waleed Basyouni described the paradise and hellfire by giving us various opinions from different scholars.

Ahl As-sunnah wal-Jama’ah believe that Jannah will last forever, but there is a difference in opinion regarding the eternity of the Hellfire.

For example: opinion 1 is that Hellfire will exist forever while opinion 2 believes that the hellfire will come to an end one day.

Seeing AllahLastly, the Sheikh mentioned about the greatest nikmah the people of Paradise will experience. That is, to be able to see their creator, to see Allah (Ar-Ru’yah). Furthermore, the sheikh also gives the opinions of different scholars regarding whether the non-Muslims will also be able to see Allah and whether women will be able to see Allah too.The majority of opinion believe that none of the non-Muslims will be able to see Allah. The matter regarding the 2nd

matter is more controversial depending on the Islamic sects one believe in. But as mentioned by the sheikh, the most correct view is that everyone, including women will be able to see Allah as many clear evidence are mentioned in the Quran regarding this.

Recommendation1. Since the seminar does not provide lunch food (unless there are students who are

sponsoring), it is better to have transportation provided by UTP to help students grab their lunch. Since the environment and place is very new, it is hard to find lunch food available around the seminar area, because all of them are closed for the weekend.

2. Each participant should be informed accordingly for the change of plan in departure time and arrival time, because some are not aware (or did not receive notification/sms in advance).

3. This course or seminar is excellent for the students and it is recommended that the seat is open to more than 10 students in the future.

4. There will be another class on ‘Divine Link: Fiqh of Salah’ on 16 th-18th November and 24th-25th November, which Syeikh highly recommend us to go. We recommend that this can be another opportunity for the others (or if possible the same students with additional of new students) can be sponsored to seek knowledge on the Fiqh of Salah.

ConclusionAs a conclusion, this seminar gives all of the students attended a point of realization, as each chapter learnt, uncovered a great deal of knowledge and developed understanding regarding our faith, tauhid and aqidah. This seminar does not limit ourselves to personal knowledge enhancement only, but encourage us to be open for sharing, knowledge exchange and personal improvement. It is believed that only through the dissemination of the knowledge gained from the seminar that the knowledge will be preserved and put into actions, not for the participants only, but also for the others who did not attend the seminar. With Allah wills, the official sharing session from the participants to the other students, will be conducted for an hour, on Wednesday.

Finally, all of the students attended the seminar is very grateful for this precious opportunity. We would like to express our gratitude to all of the Ustaz from Pusat Islam An-Nur, especially Ustaz Adiley for driving us to our destination and Ustaz Rahmat for monitoring our involvement in the seminar. Lastly, thank you to Ustazah Mashitah for informing and offering this opportunity to us.
