1. RAPS: - RAPS station is situated on the right bank of RANA PRATAP SAGAR lake formed between two dams GANDHI SAGAR dam upstream station is 64 kms from RAWATBHATA. As a part main thrust of developing reactor of PHWR designs, the second nuclear power station was taken up as a joint indo- Canadian venture. The Canadian furnished the nuclear design and also for construction, installation &commissioning activates. For second unit of Rajasthan, manufacture of components was taken up in India. And the import contents reduced considerably. Moreover, Canadian withdrew in 1974; Indian engineers did balanced designed and commissioning of the unit two. RAPS -3&4 has completed in 1999. At the RAPS-5&6 (2x220 MWE) are also complete and RAPP-7&8 are in under construction.

RAPS is Located in Rajasthan atRawatbhata…...

FUEL:- The fuel bundle consists of 19 cylindrical fuel elements of 493.3 mm length, held together by welding the element to end plates at both ends. The element is arranged in concentric rings of 1, 6 and 12 elements in different rings. Each element contains a 481.18 mm long stack of sintered natural UO2 pellets in thin zircaloy-2/4 clad coated with 5 to 9 micro-meter thick graphite on inside diameter with end caps welded at both ends.

In RAPS reactors natural uranium used as fuel and hereby Heavy water as moderator and coolent. A 220 MWe unit basically consists of 306 nos. of horizontal pressure tubes assemblies, which are housed in a stainless steel structure, calandria & supported at either end by massive stainless structure called End Shields. Heavy water moderator in inside the calandria surrounds the pressure tubes assemblies containing natural uranium fuel bundles.

TAPS:- India’s first commercial power plant comprising of two boiling water reactors (BWRS) each of 160MWE completed 31 years of safe operation. TAPS has 4 units in which unit1&2 provide electricity & unit3&4 (540x2mwe) are in under construction. A new era in outage management has been opened up by reducing refueling outage of TAPS unit 1 to 41 days. Unit 2 made a new record of 209 days of continuous operation.

NAPS: - The two units of NAPS with a capacity of 220 MWE each were connected to the grid in Jan 1991 & Jul 1992. The plant has generated 23291 million units since the starts of its commercial operation. NAPS-1generated 1555.749MUs with a CF of 80.73% NAPS 2 generated 1487.98MUs with a CF of 77.21%

KGS: - The two unit of Kaiga generating station each of 220 MWE are located at Kaiga in the Uttar Kannad district of Karnataka. The power station has generated 1856Mus since their commercial operation. The 3&4 unit (2x220Mwe) of Kaiga Station are in under construction.

KAIGA-1/2KGS-1&2

KUDANKULAM: - The project is an Indo-Russian joint venture for construction of a nuclear power station comprising of 2 units each of 1000Mwe pressurized water reactor at Kudankulam , Nellaikattbonman dist. in Tamil Nadu the detained project report was signed between NPCIL & Russian org. ATOMSROYAEXPORT, MOSCOW in July 1998. The DPR including preliminary safety analysis report (PSAR) have been submitted and under active multistage review by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), for the issue of constitution license for implementation of the main plant.
