CloudServer
Infrastructure as a Service, IaaS:Delivers computer infrastructure - typically a platform virtualization environment as a service. Rather than purchasing servers, software, data center space or network equipment, clients instead buy those resources as a fully outsourced service, on demand.
Definitions:• CPU: “Central Process Unit” The
processor, the brains of the computer where most of the calculations take place
• CORE: Refer to the actual processing units within the CPU
• RAM: “Random Access Memory” High speed storage linked directly to CPU

Management
Building a Cloud begins with building or renting space in a data center. Think of the cloud as “technology lasagna”. It’s built in layers. Unlike lasagna, you can buy some layers and rent others. But, we’ll layer from the ground up. Literally. So, in your “Data Center” layer you have: the land, building power, cooling, water control, security, access, landscaping, etc. It’s everything you need, except the computer part.

Benefits of CloudServer
1Shift Focus of IT
Having RapidScale manage your servers frees up your IT team to focus on more important tasks. Leave it to the experts!
2Simplicity
Easily spin up and spin down servers at the click of a button. RapidScale’s portal gives instant access to manage and edit your subscription.
3Pay-as-you-Go
Pay only for what you use! This eliminates over buying and under utilizing if you are able to pay for only the compute you need!

Benefits of CloudServer
4Scalability
Need to add a new application? Easily increase your compute with a click of a button. Provision and de-provision servers at the drop of a hat.
5Multi-tenant
Share secure server space to eliminate expenses. Sharing resources is safe, secure, and no one is able to access the other’s data.
6Reduce TCO
Hosting servers with RapidScale allows you to reduce your CapEx and move to an OpEx model. No need to buy upfront assets, RapidScale has invested in the best technology out there.

When is this a good fit?• For new organizations without the capital to invest in hardware • When the organization is growing rapidly and scaling hardware would be
problematic • When there is pressure on the organization to limit capital expenditure and
to move to operating expenditure
CloudServer
• Do you suffer from any performance problems within your IT infrastructure?
• Would you like the ability to upgrade your infrastructure to enterprise class without increasing your CAPEX?
• Are any of your servers nearing end of life?
• How many servers do you have?• How many physical servers do you have?
• Is any of the hardware due for an upgrade?
• How many of your servers are Virtual?• What Hyper-Visor are you running?
• What are the server specifications? (CPU, RAM, Storage)
• What is your current server utilization?
• What mission critical applications is your company running today on your servers?
• What critical applications are you running? Such as: Exchange, SQL, CRM or accounting?
• Does your organization have any Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan in place?
• What Operating System are you running?

Questions to Ask IT
04/10/2023 CloudServer Training 20
• Does your 2013 capital budget include replacing IT infrastructure? • How do you pay for applications today that ride on your current IT infrastructure? (Flat-rate,
capex with maintenance, monthly per-user fee) • Would you prefer moving to an operating expense versus a capital expense for IT
infrastructure? • Do you receive volume discounts on your hardware or software purchases? • What are your maintenance fees associated to your IT infrastructure and software? • How much would 24 hours of downtime cost your company?
• What are your business expectations around Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for IT infrastructure?
• Would you like to take advantage of economies of scale at your organization by getting
enterprise-level infrastructure at a fraction of the cost?
