The theme is ‘Find your Treasure’. Each morning staff will be reading a new book from the library to each class. The books being read have all been selected from the 2018 Children’s Book Awards list. Students will then be able to borrow these new books from the school library. We look forward to welcoming parents and friends to our school for the annual Book Week parade on Friday. There will be a sausage sizzle lunch available for a gold coin donation. Good luck to the Year 3-4 students participating in the Trent Barrett Shield day on Thursday. All information needed has been provided on permission notes last week. Congratulations to the Erica, Angus, Cade, Tahlia, Rilee, Melissa and Sophie for being selected to compete at the Griffith Zone Athletics carnival last week. All students tried their best and showed great sportsmanship. P&C meeting The meeting in Week 8 – Wednesday 12 th September will be at 7pm at the school. Special guests at this meeting will be Peter King (Executive Principal Murrumbidgee Regional High School) and David Lamb (Griffith Director Educational Leadership) to discuss the changes to the high schools in Griffith. They will be talking about what the new school Murrumbidgee Regional High School will look like, answering questions and explaining more about what will be different. Friendly Reminder We would appreciate it if people would not smoke within 4 metres of the school boundary. Smoking on school premises, including school buildings, gardens, sport fields and car parks, is prohibited. Please see the information below: The Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 makes a number of outdoor public places smoke-free. Smoking is banned within 4 metres of a pedestrian entrance to or exit from a public building in NSW. This law is called the ‘4 metre law’. The Premiers Reading Challenge ends on August 25th. Please send in your Student Reading Log to be entered!

Reminder: Start saving for the Primary Excursion. Payments are able to be made at the school office. Eftpos and Online Payments are available.

The Primary Excursion for Years 3 – 6 will be on Wednesday 24th to Friday 26th October. Students will be travelling to Canberra. More details will be provided soon.

Weethalle Show Entries

Student’s artworks and handwriting were submitted to the Weethalle Show last week. Several students were fortunate enough to receive awards. A list of prize winners will be provided in the next newsletter.

P&C News Meeting in Week 8 – Wednesday 12th September will be at 7pm at the school.

Thank you to everyone that provided donations or helped in any way towards the P&C catering on Saturday night for the football presentation. Your help was greatly appreciated.

Bunning’s BBQ – 25th August. Please contact Monica Molloy if you are able to help. Trivia Night – P&C will be holding a Trivia night on Saturday 15th September at the Rankin’s Springs Hall. CWA News Our next meeting will be held at the CWA Rooms on Monday 10th September at 9.30am for a 10am start. New members are welcome and membership is free until 30th September if you wish to join. We had 6 entries in the August land cookery competition and the results were:

Golf Club Memberships are now due and payable to Ellen Walker, or by direct deposit. Please support your golf club, even if only with a social membership. Competition: · This year, the committee will be running acompetition where individual golfers will playnine holes and complete their score on theirown individual cards.· The competition will be played over sixweeks, where players will have to submit aminimum of three cards to be eligible for aprize at the end of the competition. The threebest cards of each player will be taken intoaccount for scoring. If a player has a handicap,this will be used, otherwise the basic handicapwill be used.· Cost will be $10 per player per card.· The competition will commence on Saturday18th August and will run for six weeks, endingon Saturday 22 September 2018. Play willcommence each day at 1:30pm (names in by1pm), with the bar operating after 4pm for acouple of hours.· On two Saturdays, 25th August and 22ndSeptember, any and all social golfers arewelcome to also come and play ‘3 PersonAmbrose’ alongside the above competition.
