RANGER design philosophy has been survivabilityfocussed. The entire vehicle has been designed from the crew outwards and has utilised mobility as a key feature of the survivability system.
RANGER comprises a truly modularsystem which facilitates rapid change of role, enhances supportability, maintainability and availability by utilising common modules (power pack, axle/drive modules, survivability capsules etc, weapon mounting systems, mission systems) across an entire family of vehicles. All major modules can be changed at 1st line unit level.
Survivabilitysystems incorporated into the RANGER design include the survivability capsule which provides a basic level of protection equal to STANAG 4569 Level 4 to which a fully ‘tuneable’ armour package can be attached using the universal mounting system provided. The tuneable add-on-armour package is unlimited and includes Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA), Active Armour (AA), Plate Armour, Ceramic Armour. The RANGER system has already been tested and proven against ATMB, IED and ballistic threats – actual levels of protection are in excess of all currently specified levels (details can be provided on application).
Valueformoney(VfM) – RANGER is very competitively priced and represents a markedimprovement in survivability, capability and supportability at minimal cost when compared to existing systems. RANGER system modularity facilitates ‘menu’ pricing options allowing operational fleets to be added to/built up over the longer term without the need for expensive mid-life updates and/or fleet refits.
