Zakat Al Fitr is a charity given to the poor and homeless at the end of Ramadan. The word fitr means Iftar which basically means to eat. This is mandatory and not optional. Money is not the only way of giving Zakat Al fitr. You can also give it in food. But it has to be enough for one meal.
