Race History Jennifer Shipe created this unique event in 2012. A rape survivor, her mission was simple. Make the topic of sexual violence more approachable to affect change. “I’ve always been an athlete and sports fan, and I love the way people band together around an event or game. So for me, this play on horse racing’s Triple Crown seemed like the right way to make a difficult topic more approachable. I wanted to use fun to create a sense of empowerment. “ Since 2012, over 30 teams have raced in Seattle, Lancaster/Philly and Washington, DC for this important cause. And with hundreds cheering them on, have raised enough to help over 4,000 survivors get help through RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline. What’s more, the races have served as a vehicle to start important conversations in the fight against sexual violence.  

What is

RAINN ‘EM IN? It’s a horse race. Only in this race the horses are inflatable. And the jockeys are teams of people raising awareness and support for survivors of sexual assault. Each year teams rally supporters and fans to join them as they bounce over the finish line with hopes to claim the RAINN ‘EM IN title. It’s an uplifting event steeped in love, compassion and courage while raising awareness about a serious topic.

Who is RAINN? RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of “America’s Best Charities” by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also caries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. To find out more, check out rainn.org.
