The rainforest is Earth’s oldest ecosystem!

They are very dense, hot forests – called rain forestsbecause it is raining an average of 120 days per year inthese areas!

THE AMAZON“The Lungs of the Planet”

The Amazon is the biggest tropical rainforest in theworld – covering 2.5 million square miles!

How big is that? As big as the 48 mainland US states!

The Amazon is called the “lungs” because it is ourworld’s biggest supply of oxygen! More than 20%of all the oxygen is produced from this one forest!

The rainforests are located in a band all the way around the globe called the “tropics.”This area is found along the equator, giving it a certain temperature & climate…
