Railing Systems IntroductionCommercial Railing is used for any condo, office, apartment, hotel or mixed use project. Engineer stamped submittal drawings for jurisdictional approval are mandatory. As added value, Sapa’s on-

staff project management, drafters and engineers will provide stamped approved drawings for your convenience.

Heavy Commercial Railing includes our press, pedestrian, line, wall and bridge railing systems. These systems are generally used for bridges, walk-ways, water-treatment plants, or pedestrian and bicycle right-of-ways. These projects utilize Sapa’s heavy commercial grade railing system. Engineer stamped submittal drawings for jurisdictional approval are also mandatory.

Again, Sapa’s on-staff project management, drafters and engineers will provide stamped approved drawings for your convenience.

Custom Railing Systems are an extremely popular choice by many architects. Sapa has maintained its leadership in custom projects by rising to meet customer’s expectations using its technical service capabilities, and applying a “you dream it, we build it” attitude. Sapa facilitates this mindset with its innovative die design facility conveniently located within the main plant. Each project manager has direct access to an expert team of die designers to help create your dream railing system. Sapa’s skilled workforce of innovative die designers are equipped with the most recent edition of AutoCAD software to ensure accuracy and precision among each die. Your die can go from a drawing to reality in approximately four weeks for a solid die and six weeks for a hollow die.

Using Sapa Railing Systems products will help to contribute to your LEED™ Certification. Sapa’s products can be found on many silver, gold and platinum LEED Certified commercial project’s around the United States!

Sapa’s sales, engineering, and drafting departments use a systems approach, working closely with architects, engineers, contractors and owners to solve problems and produce products which are excellent values, structurally sound and aesthetically appealing. This approach has been the key to Sapa’s continued product and market expansion beyond the Western States to the Continental USA, as well as Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada.

All of our railing systems are composed of high strength, lightweight 6000 series aluminum. Glass panels are a minimum 1/4” thick and tempered in accordance with CPC standard 16 CFR 1201-11. Extrusion coatings meet AAMA 2603, high solid modified polyester. Anodizing is also available. Stainless steel 1/8” minimum cable infill.

Bridge RailSapa Profiles, Inc. Versarail bridge railing is designed to mount on top of concrete barriers, such as jersey barriers. The purpose of this system is to aid in separating pedes-trian and bicycle traffic from vehicular traffic. Sapa bridge railing has no external surface welds at baluster connec-tions and fits tightly into top and bottom rails. Pipe railing, splice cover plates, and bottom channels are bent to the horizontal curve where the radius of curvature is less than 200 feet. Also, mounting fasteners are covered and not exposed. Together these requirements create a flush and attractive railing system.

Sapa has the ability to design custom bridge rail systems to accommodate any American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) specifications. Sapa’s professional project managers will work with you to accommodate any railing height requirements. Sapa understands that each concrete barrier varies, therefore each bridge railing system is available with or without anchors. Contact us to design your custom bridge railing system today with the metal of the future, aluminum!

Press and Pedestrian RailVersarail Press and Pedestrian Rail (Type PED) are vertical picket railing systems used to effectively prevent persons from falling from elevated walking surfaces. Baluster spacing is usually dictated by applicable codes and intended to prevent people from passing through the rail. These Versarail systems work well in a wide range of applications, including private commercial and government projects, bridges, walkways, pedestrian, pool fencing, bicycle right-of-ways, mezzanines, light rail and monorail walkways.

Customers for pedestrian railing include federal, state or city municipalities. The reason customers choose Sapa over our competitors is due to the fact Sapa is able to extrude, fabricate, anodize or paint, package and ship a complete easy to install product to the jobsite. Also, our experienced project managers, drafters and engineering staff will ensure custom projects meet and exceed job requirements. Sapa Profiles, Inc. is on the Washington and Idaho Department of Transportations pre-qualified fabricator list.

Line Rail SystemVersarail Line Rail is a versatile in-line pipe railing system designed to be used for handrails and guardrails. This sys-tem incorporates standard 1.5” aluminum schedule 40 pipe into a wide range of configurations to satisfy project and code requirements in nearly every application. From one to eight horizontal members can be designed into this system. A sampling of projects includes municipal buildings, walking ramps, water treatment plants, water reclamation plants, pedestrian and bicycle right-of-ways, industrial buildings, resorts and hotels, apartments, and condominiums.

Wall Rail SystemThe Versarail Wall Rail system utilizes 1.5” aluminum schedule 40 pipe with stock parts and custom fittings to satisfy wall rail and stairway rail requirements. Wall rail applications are well suited for private, commercial, and government projects where guardrails, handicap rails, and handrails are required. Since the material is under 2” in width, wall railing can be applied as a grab rail as well.

The railings are made of extruded and anodized pipe. Municipal buildings, especially waste water treatment plants, are the primary market due to the amount of internal stairways and the high corrosiveness of the environment. Aluminum railing thrives in these conditions due to its rust free properties. These systems utilize fittings welded to the posts to connect the horizontal rails.
