Spelling Bee on 20th Jan, 3rd Feb and 3rd March’14:

Spelling bee activity encourages

our young learners to learn to

spell in an exciting environment

and provides teachers a very

positive motivational tool to use

for spelling improvement.

This time we asked students to

take these tests impromptu to

expand their learning.

It was such a delight to see

students eagerly waiting to join

the competition.

Poem Recitation on 24th Jan’14 :

Poem recitation was organized to encourage

students to speak clearly, distinctly and with

appropriate and varied pitch and tone

modulation.

The intangible benefits of poetry recitation is to give

student enough self-confidence so he/she can

effortlessly stand in front of a room of peers and

eloquently read his/her own poetry.

Innovative Experiments Competition on 30th Jan’14 :

Science week was conducted to promote the relevance of Science, Technology, and Math in our

daily lives.

Each class contributed a display with hands-on activities demonstrating various science

investigations . It was exciting to see and experience how students made science come alive with

the wonderful experiments they carried out. This created an ideal opportunity for children and

teachers to connect and work together.

Hats off to our budding scientists!

Friendship Day / Solo Singing on 14th Feb’14 :

Friendship day was celebrated at Raffles on the occasion of Valentine’s day. All students and staff

acknowledged each other by exchanging gifts and promoting their friendship and fellowship.

To add flavor to it, solo singing contest was also organized. Everyone enjoyed it while feeling

confident in the act of self expression. It was so much fun!

Extempore on 28th Feb’14 :

There are many times when we are expected to

speak out of our knowledge without prior

preparations. To develop this skill in our students,

we conducted extempore activity.

This time we gave them few topics in advance

to start with. They had to speak in the limited time

frame, to the point and clearly.

This activity will surely help our dear students

with their school projects and even in their future

career jobs.

By practicing this regularly, they can develop

necessary skills and confidence that are

required to speak before a larger audience both at

school and beyond.

Plan for Parents Teachers Association (PTA) :

We are very happy to announce that we are seeking to establish a Parents Teachers Association

(PTA) in our organisational structure. We have already issued notifications to the parents and are

waiting for their nominations. We have extended the date of nominations until the end of April’14.

Please be kind enough to have all your recommendations and nominations submitted by then. You can

do so either, via email to [email protected] or via reception.

The objective of PTA will be to provide support and recommendations to the school management for

the benefit and educational growth of our beloved children and foster positive relationships among

parents, staff, and community members.

Our Parent Teacher Association should have a Board consisting of 5 key representatives as listed

below:

President: To preside over all PTA meetings and will be the primary contact for the

correspondence with the Head of School.

Vice President: To assist the President and assume the President's duties in his/her

absence.

Secretary: To keep all records including minutes, meeting agendas and will help in

handling correspondence as required.

Grade Level - Parent Representatives: One representative for Nursery-Grade V and

one for Grades VI-X (2 off).

We are planning to hold elections by June.

Suggestion Box:

As per few parents’ feedback, we have installed a suggestion box near reception area. Please use

this to drop your feedback/suggestion for the development of the school.

As always, you are welcome to meet with me in person in case you would like to.

In closing, I would like to thank you all for your continued support.

Thank you as always!

Best regards

Ravi
