In a very short time, Rachel Therrien has distinguished herself as trumpeter not only in the Montreal music scene, but internationally as well. Still in
the upstart of her career, her vast experience has included performances with renowned artists such as Vic Vogel, Remi Bolduc, Oliver Jones,
Carole Welsman, Anancaona de Cuba, Klimax, Michel Legrand, Ginette Reno, Alex Bellegrade, Sophie Desmarais, and more.
Rachel is perseverant and works relentlessly at making her dream come true. Her musical journey stands out among many artists of her generation.
In 2008, Rachel spent 9 months at the Superior Institute of Arts in Cuba to develop her technique and study with great Cuban musicians such as
Elidio Chappotin, Yasek Manzano and Gorge Rubio. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Jazz interpretation at Université de Montréal in 2010
under the direction of her trumpet professor, Ron Di Lauro. Since then, she directs her own new project, the “Rachel Therrien Quintet”.

THE QUINTET
RACHEL THERRIEN
The Rachel Therrien Quintet, formed by Rachel Therrien in 2009, after her stay in Cuba, is a group of Jazz musicians that perform original composi-
tions. Rachel is a young trumpeter and accomplished composer in the Montreal Jazz scene. After having played with several combinations of musi-
cians, she has found the perfect ensemble for her many compositions. (Charles Trudel at piano, Alain Bourgeois on drums, Simon Pagé on bass, and
Sebastian Fortin on saxophone) Owing to the talent of her musicians, she is able to bring her compositions to a higher level of interpretation for your
listening pleasure.
Rachel Therrien incorporates various influences into her compositions. From the Jazz standards of Freddie Hubbard to Breckers groove, through
different styles from Miles to a touch of traditional Cuban, she has composed a unique style of her own.
The quintet has performed in the four corners of the Montreal music scene over the past year and released their first album in September 2011.
Rachel Therrien is confident that her quintet will enjoy success in the near future. The quintet just confirmed an international career after a series of
concerts they did at the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL in HAVANA, CUBA, in december 2010 . The Rachel Therrien Quintet is a group to watch for
all lovers of original Jazz music.
