Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time . November 8, 2020
Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 8, 2020
Entrance Antiphon Let my prayer come into your presence.
Incline your ear to my cry for help, O Lord.
Glory to God Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you,
we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One,
You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father, Amen.
Wisdom 6:12-16 Resplendent and unfading is wisdom, and she is readily perceived by those who love her, and found by those who seek her. She hastens to make herself known in anticipation of their desire; whoever watches for her at dawn shall not be disappointed, for he shall find her sitting by his gate. For taking thought of wisdom is the perfection of prudence, and whoever for her sake keeps vigil shall quickly be free from care; because she makes her own rounds, seeking those worthy of her, and graciously appears to them in the ways, and meets them with all solicitude.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Psalm 63 My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.
O God, you are my God whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts like the earth, parched, lifeless and without water. Thus have I gazed toward you in the sanctuary to see your power and your glory, For your kindness is a greater good than life; my lips shall glorify you. Thus will I bless you while I live; lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name. As with the riches of a banquet shall my soul be satisfied, and with exultant lips my mouth shall praise you. I will remember you upon my couch, and through the night-watches I will meditate on you: You are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18 We do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep. Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, console one another with these words.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be God.
Matthew 25:1-13 Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 8, 2020
Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Liturgy of the Eucharist May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all
his holy Church.
Holy Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Mystery of Faith We proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
When we eat this Bread and drink this cup,
we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.
Save us, Savior of the world,
for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray… the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
Lamb of God Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world, grant us peace.
Communion Antiphon The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures
where he gives me repose, near restful waters he leads me.

AM1260 The Rock, Cleveland’s Catholic radio station, provides quality Catholic programming that is faithful to the teachings of our Church; broadcasts inspire conversion of heart and a deepening of our Faith—and all the time builds up the Body of Christ.
So tune in, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. For a program guide, or just to learn more about the station, visit www.am1260therock.com or call 216-227-1260. Next Sunday, November 15, at 11:00am, tune in to WCCR AM 1260 The Rock and give a listen to the “Where We Worship” show. Our own St. Charles Borromeo Parish will be the featured topic during the show’s thirty minutes. If you don’t catch it next Sunday, tune in for a repeat performance on Saturday, November 21 at 4:30pm.
AM 1260---ROCK SOLID TRUTH! A few weeks back, I listed in this column the names and current addresses for all the former associate pastors of St. Charles. I mentioned sending a note, card, text, or e-mail to one or more who might have been a favorite of yours or who was particularly helpful at a special time in your life. Thank you to the many people who took that suggestion! I heard from a number of those priests who were most happy to receive a kind word or a shared St. Charles memory. They tell me it made their “Priesthood Sunday” this year even more special. Congratulations to St. Charles seminarian Jeffrey Liptak who received the Ministry of Lector, along with his classmates, at a ceremony last Friday. I was privileged to attend and I heard our new Bishop, Edward Malesic, give a fine homily. St. Charles seminarian Ian Kelly will complete his fifth weekend of homilies today. His presentation at the 10:00am Mass will be recorded and then later evaluated by his classmates and seminary professors during their classtime this week. Yes, we will offer the traditional St. Charles Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 26, at 9:30am. Please help with our November Canned Food Drive. Leave your gifts of food in our church lobbies when you come to Mass, or at any time during the week. Please check the article in this bulletin for the items we need the most. “When you feed the hungry, you feed Me,” says the Lord. St. Charles Parish Council will meet this Thursday, November 12, at 7:45pm in the John Paul II Room (second floor) of the Parish Activities Center. As the holiday season approaches, I ask you for your help with our parish Gift Card Program. Our summer “Two Step Raffle” was a tremendous success but the COVID19 pandemic severely diminished or eliminated the majority of our parish fund raisers. Please stop by the Parish Office, after Mass or during the week, and purchase our gift cards to do your shopping. At minimum, please buy your groceries and gasoline with our gift cards. You can also give our cards as gifts for Christmas. More about this as we “count down the days” to December 25.
The Saturday 8:00am and the Tuesday & Thursday 8:30am Mass Intentions are being celebrated by Fr. Anselm at St. Andrew Abbey.

Merici Chapel… November, the month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. They cannot pray for themselves and their greatest suffering is being denied seeing the face of Jesus until their souls are purified. Someday, we hope to be in Purgatory waiting for prayers for our purification. Try and visit Merici Chapel and pray to Jesus for the souls in Purgatory, especially those who are forgotten or have no one to pray for them.
