Global meet on Recent advances in Multidisciplinary ResearchA Global meet on Recent advances in Multidisciplinary Research was
organized in Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh in Association
with the UK Association of Cyber Forensics and Threat Investigators
on 3 July 2020. The objective of the meet was to blur the
internat ional boundaries for conduct ing high qual i ty
multidisciplinary research. The eminent guest speakers are Dr.
Vincenzo Piuri (Full Professor at the University of Milan, Italy, IEEE
Fellow, ACM Distinguished Scientist), Dr. Sreenatha Anavatti
(Professor at University of New South Wales, ADFA Campus,
Canberra), Dr. Sam Goundar (Associate Professor in Information
Communications Technology at British University Vietnam) and Dr.
Ahmed M. Elmisery (Associate Professor in informatics and
cybersecurity at the University of South Wales, United Kingdom). Dr.
Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University (HP)
motivated the participants in the inaugural speech. Dr. Varinder S
Kanwar, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University (HP) appreciated the
global conuence of the experts for multidisciplinary research. There
are more than 500 participants from India and Abroad. The event
was organized by Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Dubey, Ms. Ravita Chahar –
Assistant Professor (CSE), Moderated by Dr. Sushil Narang –
Professor and Head (CSE) and Dr. Abhishek Kumar - Assistant
Professor (CSE) and coordinated by Dr. Ajit Noonia - Assistant

Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh started 4-year B. Pharmacy
program with a strong Industry focus and intensive practical
industrial exposure in the Pharmaceutical industry from academic
session 2020-21. Now more than ever, the world needs drugs that

Virtual Panel discussion on Encouraging Entrepreneurship in Classrooms
Chancellor, Chitkara University, HP, Dr. Manoj Manuja, Pro VC,
Chitkara University, Punjab and Mr. S.R. Dhanasekaran, Vice
President, Ofce of Skills and strategic Initiatives, Chitkara University,
Punjab. The session was moderated by Mr. Nalin Singh, Founder
Natio Cultus, Hyderabad.Dr. Varinder S. Kanwar mentioned that a teacher has the key to spark
the imagination of in the students and hence motivate and guide them
to be entrepreneurs. According to Dr. Kanwar, Agritech, Hyper local
and Farming are the key sectors to escalate the country's
Center for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED),
Chitkara University organized a virtual panel discussion on
“Encouraging Entrepreneurship in Classrooms” on 11th September,
2020. The key panelists for the event were Dr. Varinder Kanwar, Vice
growth. Dr. Manoj Manuja mentioned that to encourage
entrepreneurship there is a need of internal and external stake
holders. According to Dr. Manuja, entrepreneurship training must be
imparted to the teachers so that they guide the students effectively. Dr.
S. R. Dhanasekaran mentioned that most of the students are seeking
for jobs not for careers. This needs to be changed. Mr. Nalin Singh
mentioned that concept of “Scholars to Job” needs to be replaced with
“Scholar to Entrepreneurs”. He stated that entrepreneurship is not a
co-curricular activity; it's a full-time skill. He also mentioned
Universities should actively support entrepreneurship among students
as entrepreneurship culture tends to spark the industry. Out of top 10
Global companies in the world 6 are led by an Indians, so Indian
entrepreneurs are proven and skillful race.

amounting to 3 Lakhs p.a. There were cash rewards to the top three
winners offered by the Govt of Himachal Pradesh. The nale of
startup Himachal Hackathon was held virtually on 27 October
2020. 32 participants from all over India competed in the nals. The
participants pitched their respective ideas in front of the Jury. The Jury
includes Mr. Sanjay Kanwar, Deputy Director, Industries Baddi, Dr.
Pradesh, Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara university,
Punjab and Mr. Sumeer Walia, Director CEED, Chitkara University.
Mr. Gurmohan Singh, Assistant Professor and Mr. Sahil Gill, Student –
Civil Engineering (CE) have received the seed funding worth INR 2
Lakh, for the development of approved project proposal entitled “Self
Healing Orthopaedic Metallic Implant” from NewGen IEDC,
Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
Ÿ Research grant worth of INR 1,400,000 has been received from
The AI for Health Team, Microsoft for the project entitled
“Molecular Docking Based In- silico Screening of Phytochemicals
Against Therapeutic Targets of COVID-19”. Dr Nitin Verma-
Principal, Chitkara School of Pharmacy, is the principal investigator
and Dr. Sushil Narang - Professor & Head, Computer Science
Engineering (CSE) is the co- Investigator in the project.
Ÿ A workshop grant of US $1000 was received from Society of
Toxicology, USA to conduct the International Workshop on Human
Health Risk Assessment. Dr Nitin Verma - Principal, Chitkara
School of Pharmacy, successfully organized and conducted the
workshop.
Seed funding of INR 2,00,000 received
Ÿ Dr. Shivendu Prashar - Assistant Professor, Electronics and
Communication Engineering (ECE), Chitkara University H.P. has
received a funding of INR 1,830,000 from SERB-DST for the
project entitled “Development study of FBG based snow surface
temperature sensor for forecasting of avalanche activity”.

The speakers deliberated on the intensive outline and overview of

and other parts of the world had participated. The workshop was
highly appreciated by pharmacy community across the globe. Dr.
Nitin Verma – Principal, Chitkara School of Pharmacy, along with the
faculty members of the school organized and coordinated this global
event.
Startup Himachal Hackathon
International Workshop on Human Health Risk Assessment
“Startup Himachal Hackathon", a special edition for all our faculty
members. In association with Startup Himachal, Chitkara University
organised this hackathon on 27th October, 2020. The aim is to
support Faculty, Entrepreneurs, Innovators and Researchers who
plan to develop innovations that would shape tomorrow. Through
“Startup Himachal Hackathon” early stage Ideas, Innovative
projects and new Startups were offered a wide range of support that
includes infrastructure, nance and industry connections. Shortlisted
and Selected entries got the chance to set up their own company and
apply for incubation under Startup Himachal, wherein, they will
receive a monthly sustenance allowance of Rs 25000/- per month

EAS congress. He has been awarded young investigator travel
award of 400 Euro and also earned 25 credit point. He also has
been conrmed honorary membership from Movement Disorder
Society (MDS) for the Year 2020-2021.
Recognized Speaker for Webinars on “AAtam Nirbhar Bharat” and “Mathematics and Its Applications”Dr. Sita Ram Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Applied
Sciences (AS), was one of the recognized speakers for webinar on
AAtam Nirbhar Bharat. The special event was organized by Shiksha
Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Himachal and Chitkara University, Himachal
Pradesh on September 18, 2020. Dr. Sharma also acted as expert
speaker for webinar on “Mathematics and Its Applications”
organized by Govt. Degree College, Bilaspur on December 4, 2020.
As an expert in “Vedic Mathematics” he also delivered a talk on the
same topic on National Mathematics Day on 22nd December, 2020
at Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Jammu.
Radio Talk Show: Awareness is the greatest agent for changeInternational Association of Suicide prevention along with World
Health Organization observes 10th September, 2020 as Suicide
Prevention Day all across the globe. To aware the community
regarding the same, a radio talk on “Suicide Prevention” was given
by Ms Bandana Bisht – Principal, Chiktara University College of
Nursing (CUCN) on Radio Chitkara 107.8 FM. She was also invited
to deliver an expert talk on theme “Break the silence; let's talk now”.
The event was jointly organised by Chitkara University College of
Nursing, Himachal Pradesh and Department of Computers
Applications, Chitkara University, Punjab. Ms Bandana Bisht briefed
the students on factors leading to suicidal ideation among youth. She
talked about the importance of breaking the stigma and calling out
for help if you have suicidal thoughts.

Dr. Parul Grover Mahajan – Assistant Professor, Chitkara School of

received a grant of INR 30,000 in Startup Himachal Hackathon
2020 - a competition for identifying & honouring compelling
innovations & technologies, organized by CEED, Chitkara
University. The event had participation of over 185 applicants pan
India & the nale was held on 27 October, 2020.

ISRO outreach Centre at Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh
Industrial Consultancy worth INR 90,000
ISRO outreach Centre of Chitkara University, H.P. Coordinated
eleven different courses organized by IIRS – ISRO, Dehradun.
Faculty, Research Scholars and students from different parts of
country participated in these courses. There were 108 participants
attended these courses from July to December 2020. The Centre is
coordinated by Dr. C. Prakasam – Associate Professor, Civil
Engineering (CE).
Dr. Nitin Verma - Principal (CSP), provided industrial consultancy to
Sapiens Labs Baddi for three different projects. Dr. Verma along with
Mr. Vivek Puri and Ms. Amaya Sharma, Assistant Professor-CSOP
provided their expertise to complete the projects.
Ÿ Dr C. Prakasam, Associate Professor (CE) and Dr Sartajvir Singh
Dhillon - Associate Professor (ECE) have submitted a research
project to DST, New Delhi with proposed funding of INR 2, 29,
50, 500 Lakhs. The project is entitled “Development of
Environmental ow & Flood Monitoring Systems”. Dr. Prakasam,
has also submitted a proposal for summer/ Winter Schools in
Geospatial Science and Technology Level 2 (Landslide) proposal
to DST, New Delhi with proposed funding of INR 11 Lakhs.
Biological Fertilizers and Mashroom Cultivation”. The project has
been submitted to Department of Bio-Technology (DBT),
Government of India.
Ÿ Dr. Nitin Verma – Principal (CSP), Dr. Lipika Gupta – Associate
Professor & Head (ECE), Dr. Suhil Narang – Professor & Head
(CSE) submitted a proposal to MDS (International Parkinson's
and Movement Disorder Society) to develop Mobile Phone
Application (app) for patients with Parkinson Disease (PD). The
expected funding is approximately US $5000.
Ÿ Dr. Nitin Verma - Principal (CSP), has submitted two projects for
approximate funding of INR 90 Lacs. One project entitled “DBT
Skill Vigyan Programme under State Partnership in Life Science
and Biotechnology” has been submitted to Department of
Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of
India and HIMCOSTE Shimla. The project entitled “Initiatives to
estimate the presence of Peruoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in rivers
and ground/drinking water in Himachal Pradesh: Emissions and
implications for human exposure” has been submitted to H.P.
Council of Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE).

Chitkara University College of Nursing, Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with Sanjeevini: Life Beyond Cancer had organised awareness take on Cancer on 24th September 2020. Ms Ruby Ahluwalia, Cancer Victor, the founder of Sanjeevini shared her journey of ghting with stage 3 cancer successfully. She explicated how and why the non-pharmacologic therapies: positive thought process, nutrition and breathing are of utmost importance in combating cancer. Also, Ms Florina, senior program executive, elaborated the need of emotional, psycho-social and empathetic support to cancer patients. Ram Dhulipala talked about his journey and shared his thoughts about the opportunities that are available for agriculture students in entrepreneurship. According to Mr. Dhulipala, digital technologies have a big role to play at multiple levels in agriculture. WORLD AID'S DAY"Startup Conclave 2020"- Chitkara University's one of its kind entrepreneurship summit with a strong focus on promoting entrepreneurship in India & to inspire, nurture & handhold budding entrepreneurs from the Indian Startup Ecosystem was organized by team CEED on 19 November 2020. Entries were invited for debate competition, poster making competition and video making competition and prizes for various positions were bagged by the students. This event encouraged the students and sensitized them to invest more on their mental health.

She discussed about In the Educational System, Collaborative learning and research among students can occur peer-to-peer or in larger groups. A session on the topic “The third Way: Becoming an Academic
Entrepreneur” was delivered by Mr. Sumeer Walia on 19 August
2020 to the faculty of Chitkara University from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Around 120 faculty member from different streams joined the virtual
session. Mr Sumeer Walia talked about the CEED and mentioned the

Digital Training Program - Foundational Course on Entrepreneurship By Wadhwani Foundation One month training program was conducted by Wadhwani foundation for the comprehensive course content on Learnwise platform starting from 6th July, 2020. The aim was to train Teaching Assistant (TA) Digital Training Program for Foundational Course on Entrepreneurship. The delegates participated from all over India in the program. Ms Abha Sharma and Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Coordinator, CEED attended the course. This course aimed at empowering an entrepreneurial mindset and business skills to enhance your job prospects, which help to develop entrepreneurship skills.
