We will teach the students and have him/her practice the rules of Tajweed in three levels. We will introduce Quran with Tajweed, Level One for beginners in Grade 1 with eleven units: (1) Introduction to tajweed*, (2) Why do we learn tajweed? The command to learn tajweed (3) Benefits of tajweed (4) Principles of tajweed (5) Prostrations of reading (6) Isti'adhah and basmalah (7) Levels of reciting the Quran (8) Errors in recitation* (9) Symbols of Stopping (10) The makhaarij *(11) Characteristics of letters and introduction to noon saakinah and tanween. Beginners will also practice reading from Noorani Qaida by Sheikh Noor Muhammad Haqqani From time to time, we will test students orally and in writing. Students who have already memorized parts of Quran will follow the same plan of study (i.e. Level One: intermediate – advance Levels) and will learn to identify the rules of tajweed from the Quranic text and from memory. The following lesson plan will be continued from Lesson Plan 1 – 8 for Beginners Grade 1 and consist of 15 lessons/15 hours. The topics marked with an (*) will be delivered as per the age group i.e Level One for beginners. The above level is for One Academic year and the remaining topics will be covered in Levels Two and Three. The Fall semester covers a total of 26 hours. Therefore the Lesson Plan for the remaining hours will be covered at end of this Lesson Plan in order to ensure its smooth delivery.
