S eptember found us enjoying every moment of the last of our beauful summer weather as we harvested the vegetables from our garden, toured Ramblin’ Rose Alpaca Farm (pictured at right), sipped iced coffees in the Ashtabula Harbor at Harbor Perk, and enjoyed a walk on the boardwalk at the beach. We’re sll looking forward to our Pymatuning and Brant’s Apple Orchard trips at the me of this wring. We spent some me inside en- joying romanc classic films like Casablanca and Now Voyager, and are sll looking for- ward to reminiscing on our favorite Yellow- stone and other naonal park memories, enjoying a food and music pairing with the song, “Blueberry Hill,” and film, Annie. We also had the opportunity to cheer on our local football team with a dinner and our very own Villa cheerleaders before their Homecoming game. What a great evening! See you next month . . . . If you know Lucy, you probably know her from exercise which she diligently attends every day without missing. Lucy also encourages other residents to join our exercise class. In her words, “They don’t realize you’ve got to come for a few days, and then you can feel the difference.” Lucy feels that regular exercise “helps her joints out a lot” and keeps her from getting “stiff.” What you may not know about Lucy is

that she used to get her exercise as a lifelong farmer. Alt-hough she was born in Ashtabula, she moved to Sheffield Township as a child where her parents bought a farm. The oldest of 13 children, Lucy had many responsibilities helping with her siblings and around the farm. Lucy continued the family farming tradition with her siblings after her father gave her and each of her siblings an acre of the farm as a wedding gift for each of them to build their homes on. Lucy enjoyed living close together and helping one another grow vegetables, raise dairy cows, and can everything they “could get their hands on.” Although it was a lot of hard work, Lucy wouldn’t have chosen to live any other way.
