composed and helpful teen-

agers going through a fun

bonding experience to-

gether. We learned from

each other, communicated

ideas and created friend-

ships that would last for-

ever. DCON was a great

experience, packing into

one (super tiring) day meet-

ings, workshops, sessions,

meals and dances. There

was so much to be done

and I enjoyed every minute

of it; however, my only cri-

tique is that the workshops

were short and to be frank,

DCON, 2013. A hotel

packed all too tightly with

too many high schoolers,

but without a whiff of angst

in the air. To me, it was

more than an eye opening

experience; it was a journey

that helped me find a part

of my identity. DCON

showed me there was a big-

ger picture to it all, and it

wasn’t just someone telling

me that. So in the end, what

was great about it? We as

key clubbers were experi-

encing exactly what it was

we wanted- to be mature,

less professional and/or

beneficial for the GMs

than I had hoped for. If

there was one thing I

took home from this

convention it was that I

would do anything to

come again.

Daina Zhou, or as she

(and maybe 3 other peo-

ple) calls herself, Captain

General Member, has been

an ardent general mem-

ber of key club for the

last 2 years. Daina is con-

stantly made fun of be-

cause of her height (or

lack thereof) and her

“childish” interests.

However, when it comes

down to buckling down

and doing work she

doesn’t tolerate mediocre

service work. She’s

bossed people around chaired

several events and thoroughly

enjoyed doing so, as when

events end up running smoothly

because other people help her

other people’s hard work is al-

ways worth it. Daina plans on

being the very best key clubber

there ever was, but that proba-

bly won’t happen because she’s

not tall enough for respect.

Meet the Presidents - Hayley Austin

My name is Hayley Austin, and I am currently co-president of the Tenafly Key Club. Well, my favorite subjects are math and phys-ics, I play flute in our school’s honors band, and in my free time I like cosplaying and reading manga. I love Key Club because of

its members. I am always

amazed by the outstanding

work we can do when we

put in a bit of effort and

when we work together to

achieve a common goal. I

think that the service we

can provide is the most

important thing we can of-

Meet the Presidents - Denisse Peralta

This story can fit 100-150 words.

The subject matter that appears

in newsletters is virtually end-

less. You can include stories that

focus on current technologies or

innovations in your field.

You may also want to note busi-

ness or economic trends, or

make predictions for your cus-

tomers or clients.

If the newsletter is distributed

fer as Key Clubbers. I also

hope to strengthen our divi-

sion and meet the members

and officers of other divi-

sion sixteen clubs. Finally, I

hope to inspire others and

to act as a mentor as mem-

bers learn what Key Club

means to them.

Hi! My name is Marisa

Wong. I’ve been in Key

Club ever since my fresh-

man year.

I served as secretary, and

am now the Co-President

of Tenafly Key Club.

One major goal I have for

this year is to focus on ser-

vice. Tenafly Key Club does

an amazing job at fundrais-

ing, but I’d like to plan

more service projects

around our school and

community.

Additionally, I’d like to be

able to retain member-

ship— want to reach out to

more members and get a

sense of who they are and

what kinds of projects

they’d be interested in.

I’m really happy to be

working with such moti-

vated officers and mem-

bers. I look forward to an

amazing service year!

Hey, my name is Denisse

Peralta and I'm the Presi-

dent for North Bergen

High School.

Around town, people know

me for my smile and laugh

during any stressful event. I

enjoy seeing new members

turn into responsible active

members! That is one of

my many goals this year: to

have the most active mem-

bers for upcoming years be

recognized.

I want my general members

to be more involved with

the division. The highest

goal I have is to create one

Builders Club this service

year.

The many qualities I bring

to Key Club consist of

honesty, trust, responsibil-

ity, and caring.

I hope to work with other

leaders to accomplish all

our goals!

QuirKEY Name

Hi Everyone! Some of you

may recognize the name of

this newsletter, the

“QuirKEY” and that is

because it was the newslet-

ter name of my previous

Lieutenant Governor

Christina. Christina was a

great Lieutenant Governor,

mentor and friend. Her

“QuirKEY” nature in-

spired others to lead and

she gave off a comfortable

aura. She received a

Robert. F. Lucas Distin-

guished Lieutenant Gover-

nor award at DCON and

she deserved it. I have

learned a lot of things

about Key Club and Chris-

tina even encouraged me

to run for Lieutenant Gov-

ernor. As such, I want to

continue the QuirKEY

name in honor of one of

the best Lieutenant Gover-

nors that Division 16 has

had.
