December 2011 Lotto Block

Choose 3 Christmas themed fabrics. At least one ofthe fabrics should be obviously Christmas. Theother 2 should complement the theme. Cut an 8"square from each fabric.

Place the 3 squares of fabric wrong side up in astack on your cutting board. Cutting through all 3pieces at once, cut about a two inch piece off thebottom edge. Cut this into 3 pieces with the middlepiece becoming the 'trunk'.

Now, on the uncut piece, make a light dot about aninch down from the middle of the top edge andanother dot about an inch in along the bottom leftedge and again along the bottom right edge.Connect these dots as you cut through all threelayers. The resulting triangle is the 'tree'.

Shuffle the 'tree' and 'trunk' stacks only, leavingthe background consistent. Sew the block together.DO NOT TRIM.

You have three completed lotto blocks. Your nameis entered once for each block you enter.

If you have any questions, please see the lotto blockpictures on the web site or call me.

Addicted to Quilting

She learned to quilt on Monday. Her stitches all were very fine. She forgot to thaw out dinner.so we went out to dine.

She quilted miniatures on Tuesday.she says they are a must. They really were quite lovely. But she forgot to dust.

On Wednesday it was a sampler. She says stippling's fun. What highlights! What Shadows! But the laundry wasn't done.

Nine patches were on Thursday -Green, yellow, blue and red.I guess she really was engrossed; She never made the bed.

It was wall hangings on Friday,In colors she adores. It never bothered her at all,That crumbs were on the floors.

I found a maid on Saturday,My week is now complete. My wife can quilt the hours away; The house will still be neat.

Well, now it's only Sunday,I think I'm about to wilt.I cursed, I raved, I ranted,Cause the MAID has learned to QUILT!

Simple Quilting Tip

Tohold strips of binding out of the way whilehand stitching, use paper binder clips or

butterfly hair clips.

Don't be afraid to display your quilts. Justbe sure to keep them out of direct sunlight.
