Cutting Construction

Jelly Roll StripsFrom EACH of the 40-21/2" width of fabric strips cut 2-21/2" x 21" strips (80 strips total)

Red Triangles 8-43/8" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 70-43/8" squares, cut in half once on the diagonal to make 140 half square triangles 2-21/2" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 4-21/2" x 21" strips

Background and Border 14-61/2" x width of fabric strips From EACH of the strips cut 12 triangles using the template.

8-51/2" x width of fabric strips Sew 2 strips end to end. Make 4. From these strips, cut 2-51/2" x 841/2" and 2-51/2" x 701/2" strips

Binding 9-21/2" x width of fabric strips Sew 9 strips end to end to make the binding.

Use a 1/4" seam allowance. Press in the direction of the arrows.

1 Blocks (A) Join 3-21/2" x 21" strips. Make 28 strips sets. From each of the strip

sets cut 5 triangles usng the template. Cut 140 triangles.

(B) Join 2 background triangles and 1 striped triangle as show. Add 1-43/8" red triangle as shown. Trim the block to measure 61/2" square being sure to leave a 1/4" seam allowance. Make 4 corner blocks.

(C) Join 2 background triangles and 2 striped triangles as show. Make 68 unit As.

Cut 12 triangles from each strip. Cut 164.

2 Arrange and sew the corner, side, and center blocks in 8 rows as shown. Press the rows in alternating directions. Join the rows.

3 Sew the 51/2" x 841/2" borders to the quilt sides. Sew the 51/2" x 701/2" borders to the top and bottom. Layer, quilt and bind.

(C) Join 2 unit As. Sew a 43/8" red triangle to the corners as shown. Repeat to make 24 center blocks.

(D) Join 1 unit A and 1 background triangle as shown. Sew a 43/8" red triangle to 2 corners as shown. Trim the block to measure 121/2" x 61/2" being sure to leave a 1/4" seam allowance. Repeat to make 20 side blocks.
