on EQ7PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING

General instructions* All seams are sewn with 1/4” seam allowance.* Skill level confident beginner.* Some fabrics are fussy cut. Test the placement of all templates to make the best use of the fabric.* Make 5-3/8”, 6-7/8”, and 8” squares from a heavy template material.*HST refers to Half Square Triangles, squares cut once diagonally into two triangles.*Pay attention to the direction of the prints when placing in the blocks and quilt.

Cutting Instructions (based on 42” wide) All fabrics are cut WOF (width of fabric) unless otherwise noted.

From Fabric 1 (Tiger Panel print):* Cut around the large frame to equal 22-1/2” height and 27-1/2” width. To make sure your measurement is centered, fold the large frame in half in both directions before cutting.* Using the 8” square template cut around the two smaller frames, again centering the design in the square.

From Fabric 2 (large tiger faces print)* Using the 6-7/8” square template, fussy-cut ten tigers from different areas of the fabric.

From Fabric 3 (tigers in meadow print)* Fussy-cut two sections 8-3/4” x 36-1/2” across the width of the fabric and set aside.* Using the 5-3/8” square template, fussy-cut ten tigers from different areas of the remaining fabric.

From Fabric 4 (white tiger skin print)* Cut two 5” x WOF strips; sub-cut into two 5” x 22-1/2”.* Cut two 3” x WOF strips; sub-cut into two 3” x 36-1/2”.* Cut seven 1-1/4” x WOF strips; sub-cut twenty 1-1/4” x 5-3/8” and twenty 1-1/4” x 6-7/8”.* Cut seven 3-1/2” x WOF strips.

From Fabric 5 (black)* Cut two 1-1/4” x WOF strips; sub-cut into two 1-1/4” x 36-1/2”.

* Cut two 1-1/4” x WOF strips; sub-cut into four 1-1/4” x 8” and four 1-1/4” x 9-1/2”.* Cut six 5-3/8” x WOF strips; sub-cut thirty-eight 5-3/8” x 5-3/8”; cut each square in half diagonally into seventy-six HST.* Cut six 1-3/4” x WOF strips.* Cut seven 2” x WOF strips.* Cut seven 2-1/4” x WOF strips for binding.

BLOCK CONSTRUCTIONBlock 1 Make 10

1. Sew a 1-1/4” x 5-3/8” Fabric 4 print on opposite sides of the 5-3/8” Fabric 3 square. Press to stripe.

2. Sew a 1-1/4” x 6-7/8” Fab-ric 4 print on the other two sides. Press to stripe.

3. Sew a 5-3/8” Fabric 5 HST to each side. Press to HST. Repeat steps 1-3 for the remaining nine Fabric 3 squares.

Block 2 Make 10

4. Sew a 5-3/8” Fabric 5 HST to each side of a 6-7/8” Fabric 2 square. Press to HST. Repeat for the remaining nine Fabric 2 squares.

QUILT CONSTRUCTION:6. Sew a 5” x 22-1/2” Fabric 3 to each side of the large Fabric 1 panel. Press to fabric 3. Sew a 36-1/2” x 3” Fabric 3 to the top and bottom. Press to Fabric 3.

7. Sew a 36-1/2” x 1-1/4” Fabric 5 strip to the top and bottom.

8. Sew an 36-1/2” x 8-3/4” Fabric 3 section to the top and bottom. Press to Fabric 3.

BORDER CONSTRUCTION9. Starting at top, sew Block 2 and alternate with Block 1 continuing to alternate blocks 1 and 2 for 5 total blocks. Pay attention to direction of print. Press seams open. Make two sets and sew to sides of the quilt. Press towards center of quilt.

Block 3a and 3b

5. Sew a 1-1/4” x 8” Fab-ric 5 strip to each side of an 8” Fabric 1 square. Press to Fabric 5. Sew a 1-1/4” x 9-1/2” Fabric 5 strip to the top and bottom. Press to Fabric 5. Repeat for the other 8” fabric 1 square.

FINISHING

17. Layer top, batting, and backing and quilt as desired.18. Sew the seven 2-1/4” Fabric 5 binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Sew to the quilt using a French binding technique.

BE SURE TO PUT A LABEL ON THE BACK AND ENJOY!

PIECED BACKING

16. You may use a 2-1/2 yard piece of wide backing. If using 42” wide fabric, cut two backing pieces at 85” by WOF. Sew together along the selvage edges using a 1” seam. Trim the selvages off and press to one side. The backing seam will be vertical to the quilt.

BORDER CONSTRUCTION cont’

11. Starting with Block 3a on the left, sew Block 2, then Block 1 continuing to alternate blocks 1 and 2 for six total blocks. Pay attention to direction of prints. Press seams open. Sew to top.

12. Starting with Block 1 on the left, alternate blocks 1 and 2 and end with Block 3b for a total of six blocks. Sew on bottom.

13. Sew the six 1-3/4” Fabric 5 strips together. Measure through the vertical center and trim two strips to this length. Sew to sides. Measure through the horizontal center and trim two strips to this width with the remain-ing strip. Sew to top and bottom.

14. Repeat step 13 with the seven 3-1/2” Fabric 4 strips.

15. Repeat step 13 with the seven 2” Fabric 5 strips.
