Quidway ® S2300 Series Switches
Quidway® S2300 Series Switches
The Quidway S2300 series switches (hereinafter referred to as the S2300) are a new generation of Ethernet intelligent
access switches developed by Huawei. The S2300 is deployed on the IP MAN or enterprise network to meet the
demands of bearing Ethernet multi-services and accessing an Ethernet. Based on the new generation of high-

Product Features and Advantages
No maintenance, easy deployment, and easy managementThe S2300 supports the automatic configuration, that is, plug-and-play, to reduce maintenance costs; it is not configured with fans to reduce the possible faulty point and eliminate the erosion of dews and dust. According to the reference value, 33% of device failures are caused by invalid fans. In this case, the unique design reduces 53% of the maintenance rate.
The S2300 supports automatic remote upgrade in batches to facilitate the use and deployment; it supports diversified management and maintenance modes such as SNMPv1/v2/v3, command lines, Web NMS, Telnet, and HGMP to flexibly manage devices. In addition, the S2300 supports HGMPv2, NTP, SSHv2, HWTACACS+, RMON, and interface-based traffic statistics; it supports Network Quality Analysis (NQA) to facilitate network planning and reconstruction for users.
Energy saving and low radiation in mute toneThe S2300 adopts a new generation of the high-performance integrated chip and energy-saving circuit, and thus dissipates heat evenly and saves the power consumption by supporting the sleep mode of idle interfaces. Compared with similar products, the S2300 reduces 40% of the power consumption owing to the design without fans configured and noises. The power consumption is similar to that of a Compact Fluorescent Lamp. The S2300 with low radiation reaches the radiation standards for domestic appliances. Therefore, the S2300 does no harm to your body and can be located in the splice box in a residential area. This is better for the environmental protection and energy saving.
Powerful lightning protectionThe S2300 adopts the Huawei patented build-in lightning protection technology to protect the device from lightning overvoltage. All interfaces support IEC61000-4-5 10/700us 6KV lightning protection. In the actual application, compared with the routine design, the design of the S2300 greatly reduces the rate of the damage caused by lightning even though the S2300 is applied in the adverse environment or cannot be grounded properly.
Service control based on VLANsThe S2300 supports rich ACL policies, in which ACL rules are delivered by VLANs. In this manner, the S2300 flexibly controls multiple interfaces in a VLAN and implements uniform resource scheduling.
The S2300-EI supports 1:1 VLAN switching to provide IPTV services with no home gateway configured. In addition, leading in the industry, the S2300 supports N:1 VLAN switching. In this manner, VLAN aggregation is implemented at the user side and the number of VLANs is thus decreased.
The S2300-EI supports QinQ, which encapsulates the VLAN tag of private networks in the VLAN tag of public networks. Packets then carry double VLAN tags to traverse the ISP's backbone network.
Interface-based traffic statistics can collect information about the bandwidth consumed by each user and each service to facilitate traffic accounting for users. The S2300 supports VLAN grouping in different modes, including interface-based VLAN grouping and MAC address-based VLAN grouping. The interface-based VLAN grouping specifies the VLAN that an interface belongs to; the MAC address-based VLAN grouping applies on the network that has high requirements on safety and mobility.

Rich multicast functionThe S2300 supports the rich Layer 2 multicast replication function, including IGMP snooping, IGMP filter, fast leave of users, and multicast load balancing based on trunk interfaces; it can limit the rate of multicast packets and collects traffic statistics on interfaces to meet the demands of IPTV services.
Mature QoS policyThe S2300 supports complex traffic classification based on VLANs, MAC addresses, IP protocols, source addresses, destination addresses, priorities, or interfaces to which application programs are applied; the S2300 also supports the rate limit based on flows to ensure line speed forwarding on each interface. In this manner, the high quality of services such as voice, video, and data can be guaranteed. Each interface supports four queues and multiple queue scheduling algorithms such as WRR, SP, and WRR+SP.
Excellent security featureThe S2300 series switches provide multiple security measures to protect user security. The S2300 listens to information about the MAC or IP address of an access user, lease, VLAN ID, and interface by establishing and maintaining a DHCP snooping binding table. In this manner, the problem of locating the IP address and interface of a DHCP user is solved. The S2300 directly discards illegal packets such as ARP spoofing packets and packets with tampered IP addresses that do not match binding entries. In this manner, the S2300 prevents common middleman attacks on campus networks initiated by hackers or attackers by using ARP packets. The trusted interface feature of DHCP snooping is used to ensure the validity of the DHCP server. The S2300 supports strict learning of ARP entries to prevent ARP entries of the S2300 being fully occupied caused by ARP spoofing attacks. In this manner, normal users can access the Internet. The S2300 supports IP source check and prevents DoS attacks caused by bogus illegal addresses for MAC address spoofing and IP address spoofing. The S2300 supports centralized MAC address authentication, 802.1X authentication, and NAC functions; supports dynamic or static binding of user identity elements including the user account, IP address, MAC address, VLAN ID, interface number, and client for antivirus protection; implements dynamic delivery of user policies including VLAN, QoS, and ACL policies. The S2300 supports the source MAC address learning limit based on an interface. In this manner, source MAC address spoofing of users on MAC address entries of the S2300 is prevented and the flooding caused by normal users failing to learn MAC addresses in the MAC address table is prevented.
PoE featureThe S2300 PWR series swtiches support PoE, and can thus provides the –48 V DC power supply for the remote Powered Device (PD) (such as IP Phone, WLAN AP, Security, and Bluetooth AP) connected through twisted pair cables. In this manner, the S2300 provides the power supply for the remote PD device. The S2309TP-PWR-EI supports PoE on eight interfaces. The S2326TP-PWR-EI supports PoE by configuring the PoE power supplies of different power levels. The Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) supports IEEE802.3af and is compatible with the PD device that does not comply with IEEE802.3af. With the PoE and voice VLAN technologies, the S2300 provides a perfect convergence solution to data and voice services.
Good expansibilityThrough common cables, the S2300 supports the stack of up to 16 devices.. Compared with traditional technologies, stacking has great advantages in expansibility, reliability, and architecture. Stacking enables the S2300 to implement expansibility of multiple devices connected through cables. That is, single IP management. This greatly reduces the costs of system expansibility.
