QUICK GUIDE - VICASS HD INSTALLATION
1. Starting up
Computer and Screen needs to handle 1920x1080 resolution
We recommend that all other programmes are shut down during the
installation prosedure.
a. Insert the CD/memory stick into the computer.b. Click on Open
folder and show the files.c. Double click the VICASS HD Analyze
Installer-
folder to open it.d. Double click the VICASS HD Installer-folder
and
double click the Volume-folder.e. Double click the
setup.exe-file to start up the
installation.
3. Choose ‘I accept..’ and click ‘Next’.
5. Enter the serial number (starts with M77X..)
7. Click ‘Next’.
2. Check that the location is ok, and click Next.
4. Click ‘Next’ to start up the installation.
6. Wait until the installation is completed.
8. Choose Automatically activation.. and click
‘Next’.

9. Choose ‘Continue without registrering’ and
click
Next.
11. Click ‘Finish’.
13. This window opens when the program is started up after
restarting. Click. Click ‘Cancel’.
IMPORTANT!Before using the program, make sure to have correct
decimal symbol registered.
To control or to change decimal symbol:1. Control panel (from
the Start menu)2. Choose Region and language3. Change keyboard or
other input
methods 4. Customize format5. Adjustments5. Numbers6. Change
Decimal symbol from “.” to “,” 7. Apply -> OK
10. Fill in name and organisation and click ‘Next’.
12. Click Restart to restart the computer to
complete the installation.

Starting up
Connect the camera to the field computer for 20 sec.
Start up the field computer by using the power button
on the left side of the field computer:
Start up Vicass HD Capture (normally
starts when the PC is turned on).
Exposure
The cameras measure the brightness and auto controls
exposure
User sets brightness using the scroll bar (see Properties
under)
Darker images will have shorter exposure and will be better in
low light conditions.
Properties
The Properties-button opens the
menu to adjust:
- number of images to capture in
the series
- frame rate between each image
- root path for saving
Capture images
When all adjustments are set, capturing may commence. The user
can choose
between manual and automatic capturing. To change from manual
to
automatic capturing, press the Capture series-button in the main
menu.
To change from automatic to manual, press the Stop
series-button.
The menu is hidden
behind the left
screen edge.
Press a fingernail to
the left screen edge
to open it.

Manual capturing:
When the main frame is open, the capturing can commence
immediately.
When a usable image is shown on the screen, click on the image
and the
frame is captured.
Automatical capturing:
For each time the video image changes, a frame will be captured.
This will
continue until the number of frames decided under Properties are
captured, or
the user presses the Stop series-button. The camera may be moved
and the
series started again by pressing Capture series-button.
Edit sequence information
When the predetermined number of images has been captured, this
window
will appear on the screen:
The information can be
updated (use the drop down
menus) and comments may
be added.
NB! Remember to choose the
correct Fish Species.
The ideal image
is of a fish with a nice side profile without
curves. The back, belly, tail and nose of
the fish are shown in the image.
Shut down
Always use the start-menu when shutting down.
(bring out the start-menu by
pressing a fingernail to the
left edge of the screen)
Do not disconnect the power before the field computer is turned
off.

Main menu
Goes to the analysis-section
Goes to the report section
Opens the user manual
Exits the program
Upload images
Click the Analysis-button in the main menu
and choose wanted file.
Press the Current folder-button
(NB! Do NOT use the Open-button) to open
the images in the analyzing software.
Size the fish
hoose a fish in the top frame with a nice side profile without
any curves.
Make sure that this fish is visible in both the top and the
bottom frame.
A good image shows the fish’s back, belly, nose and tail in both
images.
Use the mouse pointer to mark
1 the nose
2 the center of the fork tail
3 the tallest back point
4 the lowest back point
Try making the line between points 3 and 4 as angular to the
horizontal line as possible.
Repeat the process on the same fish in the lower frame. Save and
stay (to size
more fish from the same frame) or save and next (to move to the
next frame).

Tab-commands
Use your left hand to press the tab-buttons F3-F9, this will
save some time while sizing the fish.
Combined zoom
If the box is ticked on, both the top and bottom images will
zoom
in the same interval. If not, only the image that is clicked on
will
zoom.
Zoome out
Press the Shift when you zoom.
Selection summary
When the fish are
measured, the Vicass
HD Analyzing Software
will start making a
selection summary,
which shows all the
measurings that are
done, as they are
done.
Report
To generate the report, press the Report button. Select
the file in which you want to save the report and click
this file. Change Site, Cage ID, Cage population and add
comments if this is necessary. Save the report as a pdf-
file and/or print it.
