2 Program Design

Imagine Español is designed around the five essential keys of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students learn to read in Spanish through engaging, foundational activities planted within a rich, cultural framework.

• Imagine Espanol is a unique language and literacy product designed to address the specific features of the Spanish language, including vowels, syllable awareness, transparent orthography, and phonological awareness.

• Literature-rich activities and grade-level vocabulary round out the development of phonological awareness and grammar skills.

• Students discover rich cultural experiences through authentic music and art. The program also exposes students to regional accents, while providing instructions using a neutral accent.

The Portfolio provides a collection of student learning artifacts. Audio recordings can be reviewed online or downloaded to share with students and parents. Don’t forget to award Booster Bits for great work!

Reporting OverviewThe Imagine Español dashboard provides you with data tools in a simple, easy-to-digest format. Providing effective student data on usage and progress, these tools enable you to focus your efforts in all the right places.

The Usage areas shows usage patterns over time and tracks against weekly and yearly usage goals. Teachers in a classroom can quickly spot patterns where specific students may not be getting the usage they need

11 Portfolio

When a student creates a recording, it is automatically stored in the student's own digital portfolio. You can listen to and monitor student recordings for any students that are assigned to your class through the Portfolio area in the educator portal.

To view a student portfolio, select a student from the dashboard for your class and use the pulldown menu to select Portfolio. Any artifacts that the student has created will appear. You can also search for a student record at any time by entering the student name in the Global Search field.

For book recordings, students create individual audio recordings for each page that they read in a specific book. For other activity types, students create recordings of individual words and sentences. Click the play icon to hear each recording.

As you review student recordings, you can award Booster Bits for special effort, improvement, and exceptional performance. Students will receive these awarded Booster Bits the next time they see the Booster Bits Reward screen during a student session.

A number next to the Recordings icon indicates how many recordings the student has in their portfolio.

You can filter student work by the date and time it was created using the Newest First or Oldest First filters from the drop-down menu.

You can award 20, 60, or 100 Booster Bits for a single recording.

These recordings can be downloaded individually as an MP3 file.
