Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I have learnt that you need to meet the audience’s expectations, so if you were a member of the audience and you were creating an opening scene for someone of your age group, what you would want it to be like. I have learnt that the effect of adding background music, sound effects and using a voice over for the opening keeps it simple an introduces the audience to the characters without too much going on. My preliminary task product had speech and diegetic sounds and on top of it used mysterious background music. This drowned out the dialogue and didn’t sound very good quality, compared to my final product which had no speech at all

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I have learnt that you need to meet the audiences expectations, so if you were a member of the audience and you were creating an opening scene for someone of your age group, what you would want it to be like. I have learnt that the effect of adding background music, sound effects and using a voice over for the opening keeps it simple an introduces the audience to the characters without too much going on. My preliminary task product had speech and diegetic sounds and on top of it used mysterious background music. This drowned out the dialogue and didnt sound very good quality, compared to my final product which had no speech at all as we used the voice over to allow the audience to be in her thoughts. I have also learnt a lot about time management and that it is crucial to manage your time effectively so you can get all the tasks completed to the highest standard possible.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I have learnt that when using Final Cut, you need to ensure that the scenes are continuous, this makes the math on action correct and it makes it easier to edit with on the software. For example if someone is walking out the door, you see the other side of the door straight away as they exit, with no delay. There is an example of this in my preliminary task where a character kicks the door open and we had to make sure it was also filmed from the other side, then edited so it made a fluent match on action.

Furthermore, while filming we had to be careful of our environment as the cameras were very valuable and most importantly didnt belong to us. Luckily for our production we were indoors which already prevented many accidents form occurring. However before filming we had to ensure that there was no sound in the background as we used a voiceover the footage had to be quiet. In my partners house she had her family in another room so we had to ensure they were silent while we were filming. Overall, I have really enjoyed creating the film opening although it was a lot of hard work and stress we enjoyed ourselves and are very proud of the final product. I feel I have excelled since the preliminary task however would have wanted more time and experience using Final Cut express as I feel it was the most difficult part of the production process.
