Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

For this media product, I used a variety of different technologies such as Photoshop, Eblogger, Slideshare and digital cameras. The digital cameras which I have used have taught me how to use different settings while experimenting with photography. They have also taught me how to manipulate images using lighting to create different affects with images, such as flat lighting or a light shadow with my images by using things such as a reflector for the lights. By using the digital camera, I have taught myself how to make my images to look more professional and slick. I experimented with digital photography several times in cases such as within my preliminary task, as well as taking 2 sets of photographs for the construction of my final product. My knowledge of using digital photography has greatly improved as it shows in my photographs.

Before creating this media product, I had never used sites such as Eblogger and Slideshare before. Eblogger is where I have created a blog to upload my work such as the research which I had done, up to the final product. I have used Slideshare to upload my work in cases such as work documents or power points and then copied the embed code onto my blog. From these sites, firstly I have learnt how to use a blog and what they are used for. I had never created a blog before creating this media product, therefore I have learnt what blogs can be used for, and also how to upload my documents onto blogs, how they overall work and what Slideshare can be used for.

Here I have print screened an example of how I upload my work using Slideshare. After this step, I just click ‘Save & Continue’ and click ‘embed this document,’ copy the link and paste onto the html option on creating a new post on my blog. I have learnt that websites such as eblogger and slideshare are really easy to use.

I had already used Photoshop before this media product; however my skills will Photoshop have improved as I have now learnt how to manipulate images by editing them, without making them look overly edited. I have also taught myself how to use websites such as ‘DaFont.com’ and use my chosen text on Photoshop, as my title and coverlines font.

I had also never used websites such as prezi before. I have learnt that Prezi is an interesting and more updated way to present work rather than Microsoft PowerPoint. I enjoyed Prezi as I have learnt that there can be more ways to present work and the website shows different ways and themes/templates which you can use. I can improve my digital technology with Prezi by experimenting more with the different options it has to offer.
