How did you attract and address your audience?

Page 2: Question 5

CoverlinesOn some of the coverlines, I have included a rhetorical question which makes the reader start to think about what has been asked. In some cases, this will make the reader find the article and read it to find out the answer. This is a technique that will help to increase sales of the magazine. Secondly, by using two different colours for my coverlines, it helps the name of the artist or article stand out which may catch a readers attention when passing in a shop.

ColourSecondly, the bright pink that I included will catch potential readers attention when in shops as it is such a vibrant colour. Also many other magazines use less muted colours or red in their colour scheme which will make my magazine stand out even more. However, the colour also links to the feminine feel that I was trying to achieve.

ImagesThe images that I have chosen are of a similar person that I expect to read the magazine. This allows the reader to be inspired by the images as well as engaging and feeling involved with the artists included. This can give the impression that a synthetic personalization is being created by as it makes the reader feel a part and have a relationship with the artist. Also, the model in the images is staring directly at the reader which suggests that she is open to them. This allows the reader to engage with the model which reinforces the fake relationship between the two.

TitleThe font that I used for the title of my magazine is not one you would associate with magazines. I feel this will make it stand out from other alternative magazines in this genre which will attract readers attention. I also feel the font gives a feminine feel to the magazine which was what I was trying to achieve.

ContentThe content of the magazine, especially the topics of the coverlines I ensured were of the interest of the target audience. By having topics that are of the interest of the audience, it may persuade potential readers to buy the magazine if they see that there will be an article featured that includes an artist or a topic that they want to read about.

Body copyThe language used for my body copy I feel was appropriate and suitable for my target audience. The register was quite relaxed, yet of a level that doesn’t insult their intelligence. The subject of the article is of one that will appeal to the audience due to the artist being within the genre of the magazine, and of a similar age to the readers. I feel that a number of the features I included in my double page spread such as the pull quote, the large drop cap and the images will allow the audiences to be attracted.
