Who would be the audience for your media product?By Rukiya Ahmed

1

Our film is a Slasher horror with a mainstream audience of largely young males in the demographic C2-E. The primary target audience will be aged between 16-29 and mostly males but there maybe a secondary target audience of females around the same age who would come and see the film with the their boyfriend

My audience will mainly be students of either high school or university or have recently come out of higher or secondary education. My audiences psychographic is strugglers and explorers. Strugglers are typically lower class and spend money on alcohol and lottery tickets. They seek escapism and may have not gone into higher education or got any qualifications leaving them in a low paid/no job and may be isolated from the world around. They see film as an escape from the real world.

There will also be explorers who seek adventure and discovery and are typically students looking for something new. Their character is fun and daring and will often relate to the characters in the film.

Saw 3DIn this film poster we see a powerful man in the centre dominating the scene around him. Suggesting this film is going to be more male orientated due to the stereotypical portrayal of a powerful male character on the poster.

Black is used for the tag line and this is associated with death, power and authority and overall the poster has a dark colour scheme largely attracting a male audience.

The film title is in a font that almost looks like its drooping off the film poster and is smeared like blood. Making it clear to the target audience the genre of the film and will attract the male audience with its clear suggestion of blood gore and violence in the film.

The violent nature of the poster suggest a high age rating for the film.

Overall men are watching Saw more than women are. This trend is followed throughout but there are less under 18 watching the film than 18-29 year olds

Reviews "You wont get bored with the story; the pace is on an all time high with a maximum of traps and gory deaths. There are some thrilling and exciting traps"This review is written by a male and he shows particular excitement over the gory deaths and new traps featured in the film. This conforms to the stereotype of men being more interested in violence.

".....in the series that really made an attempt at building and elaborating the overarching storyline that had been developed over the entire series. Instead of merely hinting at things, we were getting full explanations, things began to make sense, and the movie on the whole was just a very satisfying and very enjoyable film."This review is written by a female and as expected she is more excited that this sequel develops on the story line rather than the violence and gore.

Texas Chainsaw 3D

A masked man is shown on the film poster holding a chainsaw, tapping into the male audiences love for mystery and violence.

The font is in a silver metal coloured font that is aimed at a male audience through its suggestion of violence.

The background is dark and mysterious inciting a male audience to go and watch the film.

6

Again this shows that more men watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre than women did. most of them were aged 18-29. There is a significant difference between gender of the viewers demonstrating that this female was more appealing to a male audience

Reviews

"Pure garbage."This has been written by a man as the word garbage has been used. doesn't bother to explain why the film is garbage and simply makes a statement

"It also boasts one of the more interesting and stronger story lines in it and has a few good twists and turns in it."This review is again written by a female showing interest in the story line.
