Acquiring feedback….

• After the digipak was made I went ahead and asked several people for their thoughts on the general aesthetic and professionalism of the product.

• I was able to receive their comments via the popular survey platform SurveyMonkey and found the feedback to be overwhelmingly positive overall.

Evidence of feedback

The feedback collected here shows that all answers classified the artist in the correct genre(s) and compared her to the only sensible comparable artists available. This infers that research into conventions and incorporating them in the portrayal of our artist has worked .

What did I learn…• I learned from the results of my feedback that conducting

substantial research into your target audience and creating a product based on that proves to be highly effective.

• Knowing the codes and conventions of my genre I was subsequently able to create a digipak that was deemed ‘urban’ by my target audience. My artist was likened to other artists of the same genre despite being given the option of artists like Taylor Swift; a singer of a completely different genre. This was because I researched and drew inspiration from artists that I wanted my artist to mirror- to an extent. I learned that researching the conventions makes it easier to put the pieces together and build a picture rather than go for the big picture and miss out key elements.

Website feedback

Page 9: Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What did I learn…• The feedback for the website was overwhelmingly positive with

answers referring to it as ‘professional’, ‘modern’, ‘stylish’ etc. Because there was no negative feedback I interpreted the positivity as a sign that I had achieved all the objectives I had set out to achieve. These objectives were focused on responding to pre-production research.

• I learned from my research that the website’s main purpose should be not only to connect to their audience; but to do this by having the website represent the artist themselves. Summarily, the fact that the artist fills up most of the website along with a lack of distracting features produced desired feedback like ‘eye-catching’, ‘attractive’ and ‘simple’.

• In conclusion I have learned that responding to research and taking time with the construction of your product contributes to the level of positive feedback you receive; and the professionalism of your product.

‘About’ page

‘About’ page feedback

Page 12: Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

‘About’ page feedback summary• The ‘About’ page of our website received mixed reviews from our

target audience. • On one side, the majority of those questioned found the About page

to be necessarily ‘informative’ and ‘relative’ to the image of the artist we were trying to portray. Positive feedback like this was especially welcomed due to the importance of having audiences be able to connect with the artist in as much as depth as possible.

• On the other hand, others found fault with the depth of information, finding it to be ‘lacking’ and ‘unsubstantial’. One person’s feedback highlighted how the page included a piece about the artist ‘achieving an A* in English’ and found it to be ‘irrelevant’ in the marketing of the artist. There is evidently weight to this as similarities are found in other feedback given i.e. “incomplete”, “ambiguous” etc.

Page 13: Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What did I learn…• The feedback given on the About page was very useful. I

learned from the feedback about the importance of taking your time and not rushing. Because we may have rushed the ‘About’ section, we experienced a split in feedback because it wasn’t as personal as it should have been. In hindsight, we could have also included, at least, direct quotes from the artist herself rather than her life and personality being narrated. I believe if we had taken more time with it then the feedback would’ve been more positive than it was. That being said, we did get some positive reviews that reflected what we were looking for; this teaches me that we did respond to our audience research to some extent.

Music Video Feedback(Good)

What did I learn…• The response to the music video was also entirely positive.

While collecting feedback orally I noted how my peers referred to key aspects of the video’s construction i.e. ‘attractive colours’, ‘the range of locations’, ‘camerawork’ etc. I learned from this that it making a storyboard that took all of the above into account was indeed worth it as audiences do take note of it. Whether consciously or subconsciously, it all adds to the overall enjoyment of the product.

• Although we had 100% positive feedback, its hard to believe there was nothing to improve. Subsequently, it may have been better to ask more people than we did, even though it was a lot, to get a more diverse reaction.
