• Mode of address: I have created a code that the audience of my product would understand through the use of intertextuality within the features of my magazine.

• Ideal Reader: The cover star represents the ideal reader through the use of mise-en-scene. The star looks exactly how the ideal reader would look like or would like their boyfriend to look like. His red shirt and his guitar against the wooden background connotes how he enjoys playing and listening to country music. He shows a slightly different side as most people don’t listen to country music in the UK these days, therefore he waves the white flag for country music lovers in the UK and gives female fans a huge country star to fantasise over.

• The cover star looks non-threatening in order to appeal to as many consumers as possible. The cover star represents the primary audience and who they are.

• In all of the photos of my cover star, I made sure he kept his country theme of clothing, so that he appears aspirational to the young readers. He is the same age and comes from the same ethnic background as my primary audience, therefore he represents and attracts the target audience well.
