CAMERA

• Before proceeding to film our music video we did some test shots ranging from close ups to mid shots in the editing suite to see what worked and what didn't. This also enabled me to practise being steady with the camera as I was in charge of filming for our music video.

CAMERA

• Once it came to filming our actual music video it was time to put all the practice into action! I shot a range of shots such as mid, long and close ups but also tracked our artist walking across a long street and central london. I wanted to make sure that the camera was moving and never just left on the tripod so that our video felt active. The only time I left the camera on the tripod was for a short while during the couple scene as when it came to editing I knew I wanted to make it into a jump cut.

• I used my blackberry to film my audience feedback for my evaluation questions as I always have it with me and could film feedback from my peers with it both outside of lesson as well as outside of college.

BLOGGING

I used blogger throughout the whole of this course to upload all of my work. I also used Prezi to carry out tasks such as analysing music videos and also for my task during the pitch being to research industry. I really enjoyed using Prezi as it's very easy to use and a very fun way of viewing a presentation.

BLOGGING

• I also used Powtoon to analyse Misha B's website as part of my research. Part of my analysis included looking at the colour scheme throughout her website as well as the social media linked such as twitter, facebook and instagram. This was by far my favourite online tool that I used during my media course however I only used it once due to how time consuming it is to make. I love how active the presentation and how you can add a voiceover on top.

INTERNET

I used YouTube to research other R & B music videos to pick up some of the common conventions that they all share. This helped us when it came to creating our own music video and we were able to incorporate some of these ideas into our own video e.g. The wind blowing hair effect and the use of synergy through gold hooped earrings.

FINAL CUT PRO

• Back in September, we had a lip sync tutorial in which we were given several shots from a music video by a band and had to cut between different shots and create a video which looked realistically believable. After this lesson I learnt that when it comes to editing I have to mark every shot at the same point of the song (e.g. the first word), use the basetrack editing technique (laying the tracks on top of each other and using the snipping tool to cut between them) and cutting to the beat for added effect.

Page 9: Question 3

FINAL CUT PROI used effects such as slow motion to slow down scenes such as the artist sitting in front of a white wall looking upwards miserably and where the beat sped up before the chorus and I sped up the video e.g when the artist and her lover are spinning for added effect. I also changed the saturation of the video in some places e.g. The couple scene was a lot less saturated than the other scenes to show it was something of the past.

FINAL CUT PRODuring the editing process for making our music video, I had to import all the media onto FCP. Then I had to eliminate all the files which I wasn’t going to use. Then I marked all the footage on every fourth beat to make it easier to basetrack edit. Some shots were left on for longer than others so although our video was cut to the beat, I made sure it looked natural and seamless and not too fast or jumpy as I wanted the editing to be a reflection of the mood and tone of the song.

PHOTOSHOP

• We were given a picture of a girl and had to create a digipak with the photo. This gave me a chance to practice my photoshop skills such as removing the picture's original background with the magic wand tool and eraser tool. I also learnt how to add text to the canvas and also how to change the background of the canvas.

I used phtoshop to also construct my digipak and ancillary work. For example I had to construct a circle for the disc part of my digipak as well as put information such as the copyright information and record label logo. I also had to choose the right colour green for my background and used the gradient tool to make the colour gradually fade into white. Also, I had to erase around the original background of my pictures to work with my new background.
