Page 5: Question 3

This was the first question that we asked our target audience as we thought that this would tell us whether people found the first 5 minutes of our documentary interesting enough to watch the full documentary. In the class we asked 8 people and from the results we found that all of the people we asked would watch the full documentary so they must have been interested in it.

After watching the first 5 minutes of our documentary, would you want to watch the rest of the programme?

Page 6: Question 3

Rate our documentary on a scale of 1-5 (1 being the best, and 5 the lowest)

The second question we asked was rate our documentary on a scale of 1-5(with one being the best and 5 being the lowest). From asking this question we found that 37% of the people rated it one being the best, with another 37% rating it two and 13% of people gave it three and 13% giving it a four. We got quiet mixed results on the ratings and most people gave it one or two which shows that people enjoyed our first 5 minutes of the documentary.

Page 7: Question 3

How interesting was our documentary to watch?

We asked this question to our target audience because we wanted to know if our documentary appealed to our audience and whether or not that it was interesting for them to watch. From our results we found that one person found it very interesting and the remaining seven people found it interesting this shows that the audience enjoyed our 5 minute documentary, suggesting that all of the content and the quality of our documentary appealed to our target audience. This shows that we have followed the codes and conventions of documentaries.

Page 8: Question 3

What did you like the most about the documentary?

The fourth question we asked was “what did you like the most about our documentary?” as this was an important question which allowed the audience a free choice of what they could choose. From the results we can see that 23% said that they liked all the relevant information, with 22% saying they liked the variety of interviews and footage. Some of the other things that was said was learning new things, learning about the effects of video games, the title sequence, cutaways and voxpops as 11% of people said each of these. This tells us that the content of our documentary was well done and that the audience liked what we had in it.

Page 9: Question 3

What could have been improved in the documentary?

We asked this question because we needed to know how we could improve and how to make our documentary better for our target audience. This question would allow us to cater to our target audience and as we gathered information on what people thought needed to be improved, we found that they picked up on stuff that we did not. Four people said about the positioning of the interviews to make sure that the interviewee was looking at the interviewer and to keep control of the interviewer. Also things like three people said about the mise-en-scene in the interviews could have been improved and the microphone wire could have been hidden and one person said about having more interviews.

Page 10: Question 3

Do you think that the opening sequence was interesting?

The sixth question we asked was “Do you think that the opening sequence was interesting?”. From the results we found out that everyone in our target audience thought that our title sequence was interesting, therefore telling us that they enjoyed it as no-one said that the opening sequence was not interesting.

Page 11: Question 3

Do you think that the music was relevant to the documentary?

The seventh question we asked was “Do you think the music was relevant to the documentary?” as we needed to find out what people thought of the music and if it was relevant to the topic. Looking at our results we found that everyone we asked said that the music was relevant to the topic of the documentary and that it went well with it.

Page 12: Question 3

Do you think that the documentary was well put together?

We asked this question as we thought that from this question we will know if our target audience thought that the structure of the documentary was good and that it all linked together. From our results it shows eight people thought that the documentary was structured well as the different topics where linked together well.

Page 13: Question 3

Were all of the cutaways relevant to the topic?

The ninth question we asked was “Were all the cutaways relevant to the topic?” which helped us to see if we needed to improve this aspect of the documentary. However, the results show that all of the people we asked said that they found all the cutaways relevant to the topic and it all fitted well with what was being said in the interviews.

Page 14: Question 3

What do you think of the quality of the interviews?

This was an important question to ask because we needed to find out what everyone thought of the quality of the interviews. The question has a variety of answers so that they could accurately put what they thought. The results show that 63% of people we asked said they found the quality of the interviews good, with 25% of people saying they found the quality of the interviews okay and 12% of people saying they found it excellent. From this we found that the quality of the interviews are good but could have been improved with little things such as the wire being on show.

Page 15: Question 3

Was the voice-over...?

The next question we asked was, “was the voice-over...”. This was asked because we needed the opinions of our target audience on our voice-over so that if we found that the audience did not understand what the voice-over was saying, or that they thought it went too fast or slow then we could change the person for our voice-over and change it to cater to the audience so that they are happy with our documentary. The result show that the audience found that the voice-over was clear and understanding whilst one person that said it was too slow but overall most people said it was clear and understanding and matched the topic of the documentary.

Page 16: Question 3

What do you think of the slogan?

A slogan is very important to a documentary because it draws the readers in by being ambiguous yet catchy and interesting whilst being relevant to the topic of the documentary. Thus this question was asked because we needed to know what our target audience thought of our slogan. It was an open question so that the audience had a free choice of what they wanted to say about our slogan. Looking at the results, we found that 37% of people said it was very relevant to the topic, with 18% of people saying it was catchy and interesting. This suggests that we chose a good slogan for our documentary as it will be one that our target audience would most likely remember.

Page 17: Question 3

After listening to the radio trailer would you want to watch our documentary?

The next question we asked on our questionnaire was “After listening to the trailer would you want to watch our documentary?”. This question would tell us if our radio trailer was interesting enough that it made the audience want to watch the documentary. This is important because if the audience felt that the radio trailer did not intrigue them enough to watch the documentary, we would have to improve our radio trailer so that it interests our target audience and draws them to our documentary. However, we received positive results as the full amount of people who listened to the radio trailer said that they would want to watch the documentary after listening to the radio trailer.

Page 18: Question 3

Do you like the newspaper

advertisement?

Our two final questions were about our newspaper advertisement. We asked them as we thought that we could find out if the newspaper advertisement was relevant to the topic and if it linked with the documentary. We found that everyone agreed and liked the newspaper advertisement as they thought it linked with the documentary, was relevant to the topic and they went well together.

Do you think that the newspaper

advertisement links to the documentary?

Page 19: Question 3

In conclusion, the feedback we received from both the questionnaire and YouTube tell us that all three of our products linked well and complimented each other. The results tell us that we catered to our audiences needs and created three products that interested them. However, the results also told us the ways that we could have improved our products which is important because our target audience picked up on things that we missed. By the audience telling us what they thought needed improving we can make our products better.
