In What ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media product?

This shot of Katy Perry in the music video of “Roar” There is a offious link between the lyrics of the song and the music video. In this screen shot above she is singing “roar”, this works Penis because the name of the video is roar and shown in the video that the artist is actually roaring at the tiger. The visuals link perfectly with the style of music video as it is quite wild and animalistic

Doctor Dre “I need a doctor”

Personally I think this is a good shot to represent how the record label would want doctor dre to be imagined as. The artist is made to look strong and powerful to create the image of a powerful record label. Doctor dre is imaged in this screen shot as a health man who is re gaining he mental strength and his physical strength. From working with a strong image like this, it means that the record label is promoting their type of music which is strong and dedicated.

50 cent “21 Questions”

The music genre is rap and hip-hop; this is shown through the style of the main character in the shot. 50 cent is depicted as a hardnosed rapper by the style of his clothing and what he is hold which is a lot of money. The mis-en-scene of the shot creates the picture of the rapper and what he wants to be da pitched by.

Q4 Invaders Must Die (Our Music Video)

Here is a shot in our video that shows intertexual reference as the News reporter is talking about how their has been invaders in the English countryside then shortly after there is a small picture with the aliens actually invading. This is shown in a lot of other videos such get low, in this video the singer states get low and the dancers actually get low. This is a great example of intertexual reference as the lyrics and video connect perfectly.

Q5.

This is a great use of camera as the camera is following along with the speed of the bike to add a sense of speed to the video; it also follows the pace of the music video. The camera angel is a extreme close up on the wheel and spokes to give of a sci fi fast effect, from using the shot there is also a nice variety of shots throughout the video.

Q6.

Here is a good use of lighting as we have purposely lighted the front of the alien mask to bring out all the vibrant colours. This also brings in a sci-fi effect, as the lighting is so powerful. The lighting also brings in the club effect as it gives of the impression that someone is taking a picture of them in a club. The light also highlights the key elements such as the white powder and the make up on the girls face. All of these key points make the video automatically more interesting to watch.

Q7

Here is a good shot expressing the mis-en-scene of the video or at this exact point. The reason this is a good shot is mostly because the shot classes and alcohol set the vibe and mood of the time. The shot glasses express the idea of partying and clubbing which is one of our main ideas in the video, there is also

scull faces in the glasses giving of a kind of of sc-fi effect which fits perfect with the aliens invading idea also. So, from seeing this shot it introduces the audience to feeling that the aliens are going to get drunk and cause problems, in a way it is setting the scene of the moment.

Here are two good shots that show that I have researched into other music videos. In a lot of music video with the same genre there is a lot of shots of the main dj talking to the audience and hoping them up, we decided to use this shot to help our video fall into the same genre but with our own twist of the alien mask. The second shot can also connect with other videos as it is a extreme close up of a set of dj decks, in a lot of other house or dance videos there are a variety of different shots including music equipment, so we decided it would be a nice

feature to use to keep the house dance music feel. It also means that for people we watch a lot of music videos they can relate and connect very easily.
