Question 1Who would be the audience for

your media product?

Page 2: Question 1

I would have expected that the audience I am aiming my magazine at would be for all genders, hopefully for most of the reader they would be influenced by their parents, as they have grown up with their music, however for modern day society most teenagers/young adults influence with the radio and iTunes. The band an artiest that I would expect the audience would like are Mcfly, Fall Out Boy, Katy Perry and Lady GaGa.

This issue of RollingStone uses colours that are not specified to any gender which widens the audience. This relates to my product as I haven’t uses a colour to specify the audience. However the use of Taylor Swift as the attraction suggest that the brand is aiming more toward the female population rather then the male population.

Introduction

Page 3: Question 1

I feel as if that my magazine would appeal to reader that read NME, Billboard and RollingStone. The audience that buys these sorts of products would hopefully buy my product. However I have tried to aim my product to be more mainstream which allows anyone to enjoy it.. I also felt very strongly from personal experience that there was a gap in the market for a Pop/Rock magazine, I have noticed that there isn’t a magazine that has both available music options. In my opinion this would be a very unique selling point as the genre aims at audiences who like either Pop or Rock music.

Similarities

Page 4: Question 1

My primary audience for my product would be mostly fans of Pop/Rock music also toward teenagers and young adult, as my magazine is of a hybrid genre of Pop/Rock music. However my product may appeal to fans that are familiar with pop music or rock music, I would class this fans as being more of a secondary audience, the majority of the features I have included within my magazine are a mixture of Pop/Rock genre related items. I have chosen the age range for my primary audience to be between teenagers and young adults as I think that these make up a large section of the population and this audience are up to date with the latest music.

Audience’s

Page 5: Question 1

However I would not include artists like Metallica, Iron Maiden or Bullet for my Valentine in my product as these are not artists that appeal to my target audience, also it doesn’t fit within my choice of genre

I hope that my audience would be interested in some of the biggest Pop/Rock artists and bands, so that I could interpret these characters to re-create them within my own product. For example, Katy Perry, Rihanna, The Wanted, Fall Out Boy and Fun. I looked at artists that both create pop/rock music, however I have tried to include artists that create just pop or rock music. This is the reason I thought that a hybrid genre of pop and rock would work well because they are both music based genres and two of the most popular genres. For example I would include artists like Avril Lavigne, Mcfly and Taylor Swift as these are very iconic toward the genre Pop/Rock music.
