THE STATUTORY GUIDELINE 01/16 MAKING AND AMENDING LOCAL PLANNING INSTRUMENTS (THE GUIDELINE) MADE UNDER
THE SUSTAINABLE PLANNING ACT 2009 TO INCLUDE AMENDMENTS TO THE BULIMBA DISTRICT NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
AND TO MAKE CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS; AND
NOTICE OF REPEAL OF ‘TEMPORARY LOCAL PLANNING INSTRUMENT 03/16 REDEVELOPMENT OF BULIMBA BARRACKS’
PURSUANT TO SECTION 123 OF THESUSTAINABLE PLANNING ACT 2009
At its meeting on 16 May 2017, Brisbane City Council adoptedamendments to Brisbane City Plan 2014 to include amendments tothe Bulimba district neighbourhood plan together with necessaryconsequential amendments. The amendments apply to part of thesuburb of Bulimba and will commence on 19 May 2017.
Purpose and General Effect
The amendments are intended to facilitate the future redevelopmentof the Bulimba Barracks to:
• Provide a mix of housing types and a new neighbourhoodcentre.
• Ensure development is sensitively integrated with surroundingresidential areas.
• Provide for the retention and adaptive reuse of the historicfabrication workshop building for a range of retail, business,commercial and community uses.
• Provide for new streets that connect to the existing roadnetwork and provide sight lines through to the Brisbane riverfrom key streets and public spaces.
• Provide sport and recreation land.
• Provide riverfront parkland including a land-based riverwalkwith pedestrian and cycle connectivity.
At this meeting it was further resolved to repeal ‘Temporary LocalPlanning Instrument 03/16 Redevelopment of Bulimba Barracks’when the Bulimba district neighbourhood plan planning schemeamendments take effect on 19 May 2017.
‘Temporary Local Planning Instrument 03/16 Redevelopment ofBulimba Barracks’ is not required when the amendments to theBulimba district neighbourhood plan take effect.

Description of the land to which the designation appliesThe Ministerial designation applies to land located at 12 Omar Street,West Ipswich.
The land is described as• Lot 522 on SL8755 with an area of 1.83 hectares.
Type of proposed community infrastructure for which the landhas been designatedThe land has been designated for the Ipswich West SpecialSchool and Ipswich West State School at Ipswich West.
This community infrastructure is described under the SustainablePlanning Regulations 2009, schedule 2 as:
(4) community and cultural facilities, including facilities where aneducation and care service under the Education and CareServices National Law (Queensland) is operated or a child careservice under the Child Care Act 2002 is conducted,community centres, meeting halls, galleries and libraries;
(6) educational facilities;(15) storage and works depots and similar facilities, including
administrative facilities associated with the provision ormaintenance of the community infrastructure mentioned inthis part.
