October News
October has been a month of meeting new friends and growing
old friendships. We are still working to disciple the teens in the
Sweetwaters area. Paige got to speak at the Mum-Daughter Tea
in the Indian community at Northdale where Thomas continues
to teach at the Bible College.
We are making new friends by agreeing to partner with the
ministry called Ethembeni. They work in the Zulu communities
around Howick about 10 minutes from our home. We will serve
as their volunteer coordinators. This also allows us to continue
house visits among the poor and those suffering from HIV/TB.
The Queen kids are thriving. Come and see the journey God is
leading us on.

Sweetwaters Discipleship
We continue teaching the teens in the
Sweetwaters area on Tuesdays critical
truths found in God's Word. Pictured
here is Thomas teaching our dear
friend Solo about what Jesus taught
concerning Hell. We cover a central
doctrinal truth each week. Then
unpack it in an understandable way so
they can teach others.
Ethembeni-> in Zulu: "A place of Hope" We have been offered the opportunity to partner with the ministry
Ethembeni. Pictured here is the current director Grant Edkins
and Zwe (new director in training). Ethembeni works with the poor
and those suffering from HIV/TB in the Howick Zulu communities of
Mpophomeni, Hhaza, and Shiya’s just 10 minutes north of us. Grant
has offered to allow us to participate on house visits and advise them
at their healthcare center. They would also like us to disciple their
overseas volunteers and head up coordinating short term & long term
mission teams. They desire to begin homework clubs after school
which we would help in as well. We are excited about this new
opportunity to share Christ with local people and overseas
volunteers!
House visits in Hhaza & Shiyabazali
We have been able to start back on house visits with the ministry Ethembeni (Et-Tim-Benny).
We were able to go into the Zulu community of HHaza (Hah-Ah-Zah). We met a grandmother
of 10 who must raise the children alone. One of her grandchildren has HIV. We were able to
take her some much needed food and share truths from Isaiah 43 with her. It is great to share
Christ's love and the gospel in the community again. We share our candy too!
Mums Daughter Tea Paige got the opportunity to
address the women at the
church, New Life Centre in the
Indian community of
Northdale. About 35 ladies and
their daughters came to the tea
on Saturday. Paige shared on
Proverbs 31. She challenged the
ladies & daughters to live the
Great Commandment to its
fullest by staying sexually pure
and dressing modestly. Getting
to sample the delicious Indian
food afterwards was such a
treat (with heat)!
Our College Girl! Elizabeth is thriving at Lee
University. She is doing well
academically & is leaning
towards becoming a math
teacher. She was elected as a
floor leader in her dorm. She is
excited to lead dorm bible
studies now. She is pictured
here with her fellow Grove
Level pal Sarah Blevins and
other dorm mates. Both
girls participated in Dorm
Wars. Elizabeth helped her
dorm get 3rd by doing the
shopping cart & sack race.
Watch out folks. Dorm Wars is
WAR!
Water Polo Anyone?
Jacob is doing 3 sports now. He
is doing both Cricket and
Water polo at St. Charles. He
still swims on the Seals swim
team. When he isn't in the
water or on "the cricket pitch",
he is studying for his upcoming
finals. He helped at Hilton
Baptist this Friday as a youth
leader during our kids ministry
hour. Unfortunately for those
kids he was using his water polo
skills at dodge ball. Duck kids!
